Hello! i'm Jill, just joined this forum and wanted to share my new little rabbit family :). Tosha came to my home about 2 1/2 weeks ago after searching rescues throughout the chi-town area. Wasn't my original intention but i ended up getting her from a local pet store as i was put on a waiting list at a few agencies tha i plan to adopt from in the future.

A little background, Tosha is not my first rabbit...i was the proud mum of two beautiful Netherland dwarf rabbits or 10 years up until last summer when they passed on of old age within a few weeks of each other..they were a very close pair, and i miss them everyday. i decided i had come to terms with my mourning recently and was ready for another rabbit companion or two.

Back to now, Tosha adapted to my home right away, she has a nice large cage and the run of my home most of the day. Unfortunately the store crew wasn't helpful at all with the finer details of their rabbits (vaccinations, etc.) So in a way she is very much a "rescue" from that place.

I took Tosha in for her first vet visit to make her an appt. for spay when I got an unexpected surprise: Tosha was pregnant and just about ready to kindle! Prolly should have suspected something when she began to build a nest in her igloo-hut the day before, but i thought it was just a false-pregnancy. The vet was sure there was only one kit. Not 2 days later, around 10ish in the morning Tosha was pulling her fur and in and out of her igloo-nest, and Ker-Plunk was born :). 10 days later Ker-Plunk is burrowing around the nest, has a coat of fur, and her/his eyes have been opened since last night. Tosha has been a great first-time bunny-mum so far and I feel so blessed...up until last week I knew just about everything there was to know about rabbits except babies, so i've learned alot since last week!

we just wanted to say Howdy and Happy Spring! :biggrin2:
