Hey, everyone, I'm also in NS. I joined three rabbit forums yesterday; looks like this one is the most active, so I'll probably be popping in here regularly.
Kiwi & Coco have a kind of love-hate relationship. They've been bonded a few times before, but then they'll start to fight again (they both want to be the dominant bunny). Right now they enjoy kisses through their cages, but I'm thinking that when Coco's back to normal (he's going through an infection and mites now
) I'll try mending the broken bond yet again.
Both are Holland lops. Kiwi, approx. 6 years old, we rescued from a friend of my boyfriend's who couldn't care for him anymore and was going to just drop him off in the woods. It's easy to see how someone who knows nothing about domestics might have thought he would survive this: he's a feisty, demanding little explorer who doesn't seem frightened of anything at times, though the funniest things will startle him sometimes, like his humans laughing too loudly. He loves to try to eat our books when we're reading in his presence and gets miffed if you forget to say hi with some petting on the head when you walk by him. He never holds grudges, though, if you seek his forgiveness. He likes to climb up to places we don't expect him to go and look all innocent when we walk into the room. He loves chasing us around the room.
We got Coco a couple of months after Kiwi, who's about a year older, also from someone who couldn't care for him anymore. Coco doesn't warm up to people immediately the way Kiwi does (all Kiwi requires to fall in love is some petting). For a long time I thought he just didn't want a "physical" relationship (involving petting, snuggling) with humans. He taught me that there can be other reasons a bunny is being aloof, that have more to do with the human's style and ignorance of bunny body language and etiquette. He has now accepted me as a fellow bunny, loves to snuggle with me and grooms my hands and face regularly. He likes to dig and chew at his cardboard boxes, as well as rearrange them to suit his purposes.
Our little guys have been with us for about 4 years now and whenever someone asks me if we're going to get married or have kids, I say my boys are my kids. They are wonderful little companions and I look forward to sharing and reading funny stories and advice with everyone here.
