Hi everyone. New to the forum. My wife and I have Buddy, a Holland Lop. He's almost 2 years old, and with him being our first rabbit, we're just here to learn from everyone else. :biggrin2:

Thanks everyone. Yeah, he's great.:biggrin2: He likes to play and run around, but when he's tired...a big flop usually happens.:p Our only issues with him, so far, are 1. that we think he's making too many cecotropes and not eating them all, but we're working on adjusting his diet for that; and 2. he doesn't really like to be touched, picked up, etc. like we see from some other people's bunnies. Is there anything we can do to "train" him to like that? Or is 2 years old too old for him to learn that?

welcome to the forum :) Has Buddy been out to enjoy our fresh snow yet? put my bun out for a bit, but hes not as fond of it as he used to be when he was younger!

is he nuetered?

depending on what his life was before he came to you, could explain why he may be a bit anti-social. then again, he is new and it takes time to adjust and eventually wth time and lots of pateince you will earn his trust :)

Good to see another Olathe person on here!

No snow for him though, Buddy is purely and indoor bunny.:D He is neutered though (that certainly helped calm him down). We got him pretty young from a local breeder (who, in retrospect, may not have known nearly as much about rabbits as originally thought). He seems to like us enough, just not enough to let us actually pick him up. I can lift his front paws up, but if you try to scoop him up...he'll apparently have none of that. :p

Maybe like you said, it just takes work and patience. I was just making sure that we hadn't waited too long and missed the window, to where it was ingrained in him now to never be picked up.

Well I must say Buddy is a handsome boy! And he looks an awful lot like someone I know

my buns inside too, but i put him out on the patio on nice days to get some sun in.

some buns dont like being picked up (most dont) because they are prey animals, being picked up reminds them of being grabbed by a predator so they get scared.
from day one i carried my bun everywhere (even to work with me) so he got used to being carried and he tolerates it, but rarely will come to me to sit in my lap or anything

theres a few local breeders who dont seem to know anything at all about rabbits, lol, that or breeding for wrong reason for sure

This is a terrific website for rabbits and their slaves, not only is it very active but also friendly. I am so glad you’re here and I know you will enjoy it.

Very cute bunny, looks very contented.

Many bunnies’ recommend their slaves to this site so we may learn of others methods to keeping our furry masters happy.

If you everhave a sick bunny, please post in The Infirmary and include your rabbit's age, breed and health history as well diet and output details leading up to the problem.

Here are somelinks I thought you might find interesting:

*For reference the Library section

*To brag or tell everyone about the antics of your bunny or just to talk about your day here is where to start a Bunny Blog, you can also look back at it later and remember when you had a life before your bunny.

*Now all the bunny’s like talk to each other when we mere slaves aren’t around in the Bunny Chat is the spot to be.

*The House Rabbit Society has a lot of good information on what veggies are safe for bunny’s, etc.

*Rabbits Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Here is a link tothat will help you and your bunny to connect, How to Bond with Your Bunny.

Now every forum has rules and ours can be found with this link Rabbits Online Forum Rules. This gives guidelines on what is acceptable, what is not and how we hope everyone will treat each other.

Everyone on this forum loves to see pictures of each other’s bunnies. So if you would like to post a picture this link will help you do that, Upload Photo's to Photo Gallery. Then in the post, you click on the "G" in the tool bar to insert your photo. Many people also use Photobucket. You just copy the img file and paste it into the post.
