We are new to this! We are picking up our new family member tonight. Cleveland is a Fawn colored Flemish Giant. We need a bit of advice though. We are torn between keeping him outside or having him inside with us. Any ideas or advice? Thanks

Welcome!

I will always vote for inside-living, especially if he's going to be alone. Bunnies are social animals. Making him an involved part of the family is the best way to tame and socialise him, and keep him from destructive boredom. It's also the safest environment for him. Bunnies thrive on routine and familiarity with their space. Being trapped in a wooden box in an unfamiliar wilderness with all sorts of wildlife and weird sounds going on outside is not very nice, especially for a scared new bunny.

Welcome!!!

I'd vote inside bunny too.... who wouldn't want to spend more time with their bunny and create a close bond. You do know what they are up to and if they are safe and ok inside too. you can always see them and they get lots of interaction inside.
My little lop bunny is like a dog... he LOVES company and attention and is always looking for me and following me around. I'd hate for him to be alone outside at nights and then me having to worry about mosquitos, predators and fear he is escaping when i am at work.
Dont have those worries knowing he is locked up inside and in a safe place.

Trixie here- the reason why I am celebrating my eleventh burfday this year is because my daddy and mummers keep me inside.

We have our rabbits outdoors because my son and I have allergies to animal dander. When I decided to get rabbits, I thought it would be a good solution to us not being able to have pets due to our allergies and I thought keeping rabbits outside was totally normal. Since I got my rabbits, I have been learning a lot about how to take care of them and found that keeping rabbits outside isn't really the most recommended thing. At this point, I just try to take good care of them and provide them with whatever I can to help them deal with the weather. If you have the choice, indoors is probably less stressful for the rabbit and gives you more opportunities to spend time with it, but also, like Woahlookitsme said, both can be a good set up too: a cage and free range time indoors and a safe outdoor run for a nice change of pace on days when the weather is good.
