Just got my first bunny. I had one when I was younger but that was ages ago. I had got the cage the food the leash EVERYTHING you could think of.The cage I know is temporary. Its the largest plastic one I could find but still not very big. I researched all breeds and found the cutest littlest bunny via craigslist. I was looking in shelters too but this little guy was too cute to say "No" to. Well better tell you guys about Carrot my Flemish Giant baby rabbit. No pics yet will take some tomorrow. I dont know what color he is but his dad was "sandy" and his mom was a "fawn". He is a little stinky but thinkI will wait to bathe him don't want to stress him out. He is very very tiny I was surprised he was selling the babies but Carrots was the last one left and told me he was the runt of the litter. I was told he is 6 weeks oldish. Well thats it ill go take a peak at the rest of the fourm.

Welcome to the forum!

I heard bathing is no good for buns.. someone will probably give you tips on how to make your bun smell better XD (I'd like to hear it too, Sabriel's a bit stinky himself!)

I'm jealous, cause I want a flemish giant so bad!

I can't wait to see pictures!

And yeah, that is pretty young I think.
I'm pretty sure most breeders keep their buns until at least 8 weeks.

Yea I thought it was a little young too I am making a vet apt for this week to check him out to make sure he is 100%. The "Breeder" I got him from had a kinda shady set up in his backyard. There was also a Flemie with a missing back foot running around. He told me that he broke it took it to the vets and the vets removed the foot. I feel bad for the 3 mommies I saw in cages. He seemed to rly love the bunnies but the set up was rly messy maybe it was just me.

Pis of him: Sry its Blurry!

Yeah, that definitely does seem a bit shady... Craigslist usually is. A lot of people on there will sell their bunnies to people even if they want them for meat to eat. It's really sad ): I wanted to rescue so many buns from Craigslist.. but of course, I can't. )x

But yeah, some breeders do have really messy setups. Sometimes I wonder.. but yeah. Maybe he did love them. Maybe it was an act.. I wish there were ways to tell D:

But Carrot is super cute <3

Let me welcome you to Rabbits Online, my name is Dave and I am a moderator on the forum. So if I can be of any help please let me know. This is a terrific website for rabbits and their slaves, not only is it very active but also friendly. I am so glad you’re here and I know you will enjoy it.

It always nice to have another flemish giant lover on the forum. I breed and show flemish giants. Yes 6 weeks is too early for a flemish kit to leave its mom. First don't give a bun a bath, especially one that young. There is some powder for dry baths, that you put on the bun I believe and brush off, but you have to be careful with a bun this young, you don't want anything getting into its lungs. I am glad he is living with you now. Keep him on a pellet diet with a little hay and make sure your vet is rabbit savy too, don't hesitate to call around.

Many bunny's recommend their slaves to this site so we may learn of others methods to keeping our furry masters happy.

If you everhave a sick bunny, please post in The Infirmary and include your rabbit's age, breed and health history as well diet and output details leading up to the problem.

I have listed some links I thought you might find interesting:

*For reference the Library section

*To brag or tell everyone about the antics of your bunny or just to talk about your day here is where to start a Bunny Blog, you can also look back at it later and remember when you had a life before your bunny.

*Now all the bunny’s like talk to each other when we mere slaves aren’t around in the Bunny Chat is the spot to be.

*Rabbits Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Here is a link tothat will help you and your bunny to connect, How To Bond With Your Bunny.

Now every forum has rules and ours can be found with this link Rabbits Online Forum Rules. This gives guidelines on what is acceptable, what is not and how we hope everyone will treat each other.

Everyone on this forum loves to see pictures of each other’s bunnies. So if you would like to post a picture this link will help you do that, Upload Photo's to Photo Gallery. Then in the post, you click on the "G" in the tool bar to insert your photo. Many people also use Photobucket. You just copy the img file and paste it into the post.

I am glad you have joined rabbits online and I look forward to seeing you around.

Well yea you never really know, but I remeber there were numbers on the ears of the 3 females I saw including Carrots mom. The 3 moms where a Steel a REW and a Fawn. He also had a free roaming Fawn who looked young who was missing a foot and 2 other female brown ones in a dog cage who also looked young. The father I asked to see was HUGE I picked him up and he was about 20lbsish as big as a small dog.

Hi! I just got a flemish giant a few weeks ago myself. You will quickly find how fast they grow and how smart they really are! As far as bathing goes I purchased a spray on leave on shampoo from a pet store. It works really well, doesn't irritate her and smells like baby powder.
