Welcome to the forum! Hopefully this will be the last welcome :p.

I can't wait to see if you end up being a bunny slave, like the rest of us :D! There is a lot to read about here on the forum. I hope you learn all that you need to learn and go onto being a great bunny mother :).

HELLO again all ... I got a true RESCUE ... My local Petco took him as a abandoned bunny.... He is Neutered and about 8 months and a himilayan( thinks that is the color ) neatherland drawf .... Mom thinks she is not bonding...NOTE Mom is having bonding issues... oh and he bites( or nibbles coming from a cat owner)... This is new for both of us but the bunny is "supposed to be" Moms as she lost her nearly19 old cat exactly 5 months ago ... and I thought a bunny would be a good pet since it can be caged when needed

He is eating Kaytee complete ... with cube of timothy hay .... currently in a large dog/cat carrier ... I am planning to move him into a BIG (70 lb ish size ) Metal dog crate and try to litter train ... Tonight I bought him a BIG TP roll type hidy hole/ toy... he REALLY REALLY like to scratch and eat cardbourd ... I got carefresh litter but dont think he likes it and it is MESSY ...

hi! i'm glad you got a rescue! he sounds like a cutie. and yes himalayan is a coloring. give him some time to get used to you--bunnies have major issues with trusting animals larger than them--it's the prey mentality. he might nip a bit until he gets used to you. i reccomend sitting or lying on the floor while he's in the room uncaged and letting him come up to you to explore, sniff, see that you don't want to eat him, before you try cuddling or petting him much. it sounds like you've got a good start (prob from good advice of naturestee)! there's tons of good info around here on litter, training, food, etc!

Hi Sharky! Glad you made it back.

How awesome you got a rescue. How are things going? What is his name? When can we see pics???

I know, a lot of questions, but I am such a bunny lover! :bunnydance:

Hi Sharky and congrats on the RESCUE!

I got my Bob from a pet store, but was sort of a rescue, as he was abused by another bunny. Anyway, give your little one a little time...

You mentioned litter training...I trained both of mine... and so they can hippity hop around the house all day (even when I am not home). They are very happy and I feel good knowing that they are not caged up. Training isn't so hard either since they are naturally neat animals. They prefer to go in one or two places.

i can't wait to see pics!!!!:D

Mom wants rescue to take him ... HELP.. she claims not to feel anything for him.. I am thinking it is merely the bunny is getting comfortable but so far no real wanting the humans... I have fallen for him... but need help so MOM will as he is supposed to be hers... I did get a NIC kit for 1.00 at st vinnys, so he now has a little run..

Perhaps she is having trouble because she is still mourning the loss of her cat. Therefore, she is slow to bond....for fear of the bunny "taking the place" of her beloved kitty....

MOM refuses to bond with Barney...

I contacted rescue and talked to a lady but I dont think she is right as her "dwarf" is outside .... I have a couple other leads but Barney seems happy and he is bonding to ME....

Tonight he took lettuce from my hand and let me pet him:p:p:D:D:biggrin2::biggrin2:

tell your mom that he is just taking a while to adjust. bunnies are scared little creatures! mine hid under my bed for at least a week after i got him.

Barney will not be staying... I am fostering him till a good home can be found ... He has made strides but is not fitting into the family..... He is happy and very smart ... The family I want to adopt him to he would be dooted on by a mom who works only in the morning a few days a week and a 14 yr old boy who has wanted a bunny...

I hope to have a bunny in the future as this has been a great experience but Barney needs more attention than I have and totally will not bond to my Mom... He does like cats and dogs thou:)
