Hello! We run a small caviary in East Tennessee. Recently, we added two rabbits to the group.

Allegra was found in our front yard. It is our belief that she was dumped by her previous owners. She is very friendly and immediately walked up and begged for attention. Some TLC and a vet visit and Allegra is living it up!

We wanted to make sure that Allegra had plenty of stimulation and didn't suffer from boredom or loneliness while we are out working, so we also added Naryssa to our group.

Allegra and Naryssa are getting along very well. We're doing our research on rabbits since we specialize in cavies.

Any suggested readings or help would be appreciated.

There's lots of information available on the home page of RO -- especially Hare Care and Lagomorph Library.

Your girls are getting along so well now because they are so young. But from 3 or 4 months to 6 months, their hormones will kick in full gear and they very likely will fight. Bunny fights can be vicious and result in mutilation or death, so you'll want to separate them when those hormones start showing.

It's also important to spay them too. Does that aren't spayed have an incredibly high rate of cancer resulting in premature death. Once they are spayed, you will have 2 new personalities and the girls will need to be re-introduced and bonded if you'd like to continue to house them together.

Spayed buns also litter train easily, so that makes it easy to clean cages and convenient for letting them run loose in a bunny-proofed (from chewing) area.
You might want to take a peek at the thread showing "2012 cages you've made."

We definitely have plans to get them spayed as soon as they are old enough. We have a wonderful vet that absolutely adores rabbits, and we are very confident in his skills.

They are still in the process of bonding. We are monitoring very carefully to ensure that no fights break out.

We are litter training, which we find to be working quite well so far. We are also planning to start clicker training the girls soon.

Thanks for the help you have provided so far. We look forward to chatting with you in the future!
