Great to find this place. I assume the family will be welcome.
My name is Alex. My girlfriend Melissa and I currently have three rabbits, and the story is as follows:
I received my rabbit, cleverly named Bunny by his previous owner (and never changed by me), in high school about five years ago. He was said to be about one when I took him in. While at first he was nervous of me and his new environment, he eventually grew VERY attached to me. He is so comfortable with me that he has no problem being held in the most obscure positions that might give most bunnies a heart attack. And he is always playful, curious, and fearless (not afraid of things like the vacuum or my parents dogs... though he should be). I have come to realize that, having taken up occupancy in my room during my high school years and beyond, this rabbit knows more about me than any human ever will... from a rabbits perspective anyway.
My girlfriend, having seen my relationship with Bunny, really wanted one of her own. So last Christmas she took in Yue (after the character of the same name from Avatar: Last Airbender). While also curious and friendly, Yue is much more cautious than Bunny. She is also much neater (fitting her Princess status).
Unintentionally, around Christmas time, Bunny and Yue became close. Last January, Yue had a litter of three. At the time we called them Twix (the chocolate one), Two-Bit (the runt), and Fibs (after Fibonacci, which was just a topic of discussion at the time). We took great care of them (going far beyond the measures most would take). The whole litter survived with no complication.
The first to go was Fibs, who my girlfriend's sister renamed to Loki (which later would fit perfectly). He is very happy now. We still visit from time to time for nail clippings. Next was Two-Bit, to a family who had a young daughter that was deathly afraid of dogs. The father thought a rabbit would be fitting, and the daughter changed her new rabbit's name to Morgan. Last we were informed, Morgan is given free range of the home and has become very close with the little girl. The one remaining with us is Twix. We do not feel right about giving her away because she is having some problems, which I will outline in another post and link here (help and advice in dealing with a troubled bunny is very much appreciated).
Sorry for the pic heavy book, though I'm sure some may enjoy.
Came here for advice and community. Hopefully here to stay.
Have a good day.
