Hi there,

My name is Shannon and I am new to rabbits and this forum. We don't have any yet as we are busy doing research about rabbits first and bunny proofing our home. We have spent 80 dollars already for protecting future bunnies from electrical wires. So far I have learnt so much about chewing needs, housing needs and general care. I have picked up books from the public library and also visited rabbit.org.

So when the bunnies come in August we will be prepared. Don't worry I am not getting them from a Pet store or a breeder. I know that there are tons of rabbits out there in shelters and also people's homes that are not wanted. We have been visiting two rabbits and have promised to take them once the house is ready.

I am from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Anyone else out there from Winnipeg?

Shannon

First of all welcome to the forum :)

Secondly if you put your location on your profile people from around that area will help you with vets and local stores!

Thirdly good idea searching around the forum and looking in books before you get your buns!

Fourthly (gosh this is going on a bit) well done for bunny proofing your home!

and fithly and finally i bet your thinking !! tell us a bit about the buns your adopting what breed, what age, gender personality and have you thought olf names yet?

I'm Becca by the way!

Hope you have fun, welcome to our RO family :)

Becca

Well the rabbits I am visting/adopting have names that I will be keeping them. Well for the black one I think I might come up with another name to fit the famous theme in my house. I have a bird named Humphrey Bogart.

But back to the bunnies. One is a brownish and his name is Buddy Holly. The other is black and his name is Midnight. That is the one that I might change.

As for what kind they are I am not sure. I know there is Mini-rex's, Holland Lops, dwar dutch mixes. But I don't know what these are. They are medium rabbits. Both the same size and they don't have the droopy ears like lops do.

Buddy Holly is 5 years old and Midnight is 3 years old. Buddy Holly is fixed and Midnight will be fixed as soon as I get him.

I have been reading about tips on introducing and bonding and I hope it goes well. I am prepared for the chance that they may never bond.

I will definatley put my location in my profile!

Awwh, Great names, I really cannot wait to see them - Have you got any pics?

I am sure if you put pictures on here some of the experienced breeders will be able to identify their breeds :)

Welcome to RO! Great job researching before getting your first bunnies. I wish I'd done more of that in the beginning - it's definitely a help.

I can't wait to hear and see more of your bunnies to come!

Welcome to RO!

Congrats on adopting bunnies from the shelter! I can't wait until you get them for pictures! I love the name Buddy Holly! So cute! I also like how you have that famous name theme, that's a great idea!

Welcome! And good job on doing the research before getting a rabbit. I didn't find this forum until after I had one. I've gotten loads of great advice and ideas from here though and I'm sure you will too. If you haven't picked up a cage yet, you may want to check out the NIC cages in the library. You can make quite a nice large cage for much less than a storebought one would cost.

Hi there fellow Canuck! ! Welcome to RO :)I live in Eastern Ontario. I'm on the road and just checking in from Maryland and saw your post. So exciting about your new additions and you've come to the right place! :)
