Hi everyone! I'm new and wanted to get some opinions on this even though I may just be paranoid...

My bunny's cage is in my bedroom. I'm starting to get bugs in there - it happens every year when the weather gets warm. It never bothered me too much before, but now I'm worried about things like fly strike, and I'm getting a lot more bugs than usual; I'm assuming because his poo is attracting them (litterbox is cleaned several times a day, but still gets dirty of course!), maybe his food is too.

The last straw was today when I watched a silverfish crawl out of a crack in the ceiling :yuck still can't get that itchy feeling to go away... But I realized that's probably where they're coming from.

So I want to seal the cracks up with, uh... something... caulk? expanding foam? Whatever the hardware store recommends I guess :biggrin2: But I was wondering if any of those could be harmful to my bun. I really hate anything chemical but I also hate bugs.

Should I keep him out of the room while I do it, and for a few hours after? Or will he be fine?

Thanks!

Absolutely keep him out when you are using anything that might give off fumes. Check the labelling.

Silverfish won't be coming in because of him. They like damp. I'd check your roof and roof space rather than try to seal up cracks. If it's damp up there and you seal it, you might actually contribute to the growth of mould.
