I was wondering if anyone knows what comes in the wooden kit?

http://www.bunnybale.com/Products.html

I can't seem to find anything on the site telling me what comes with.

They are offering a free sample as well...just an FYI

I checked out sweet meadow as well, but I like that the bunny bale, well comes in bales and you can pick off the flakes. Seems like a good way to feed instead of the loose hay. I wish they sold the apple sticks and what not and man the shipping costs..wow.

I was going to order one bale of alfalfa, Timothy, and that wooden feeder kit.

Simon has been a chewing machine today. Chewing on everything he can get his teeth into. He seems to like picking at blankets and towels, though this worries me some. Afraid he will pick off too much when I am not looking. I currently have a towel on the neat idea cubes that make up his shelf.
Does anyone have a better idea of what I can lay down on the shelf to protect his feet so maybe I won't worry as much? Thanks!

I emailed asking them...but haven't heard back..

Does anyone know anyone good to buy toys, grass mats and chewy items in general, from? I try to not shop at places like petco and petsmart and would prefer to stay away from them, but can't seem to find grass mats around here and Simon really seems to like them.

Thanks.

That hay feeding box and hay station look good- I love the hay station that comes with a litter tray, and you can screw it down so cheeky buns can't tip it over too!

Re his cage, I think it's called pegboard over there, but I use harboard, and cover it with linoleum self ahdesive squares- this makes it easy to just wipe clean. I did use cardboard for a while, but it got eaten and peed on!

If you still wanted a soft surface, you could then maybe cable tie the towels on top of the shelf after that?

Jen :)

I had purchased a couple of seagrass mats and wooden chew sticks on eBay. I did a search under "rabbit toys" and came up with a few options.

I received my free bunny toy today in the mail and was very pleasantly surprised as I only filled out the form about 5 days ago or so. It was from http://www.pet-rabbit-toys.com and wow, they have so many neat things to choose from. The free toy also came with a coupon for 10% off my first order. :)

Edited to say I found the Free Toy link: http://www.pet-rabbit-toys.com/freetoy.htm?gclid=COaw0t-e2ZECFSMeOAodPnJKew

Thanks! I will have to check those out.

Sadly I am not an ebay'r...don't know why, but it makes me uneasy using them.
Never have and probably never will...

Orchid, know anybody with horses? Any feed stores around? Anybody close by who might want to split a 'real' bale with you? As long as it's dry and looks and smells fresh, it's a better bet. You can probablyjust grab a few big bins or garbage bags and fill them up for free or just a buck or three.

Sometimes local rescues will sell big bags of farm Timothy as well. Paying that kind of money for those little bags drives me nuts!

No...I don't really know many people here in NC at all.
I am from NY orginally. Though I have been here over two years now, I don't get out much. The prices do seem crazy don't they! I would rather buy decent stuff though than what I got the last time from the pet store. Every time I put my hand in it, a big cloud of dust comes out. Least everyone has a good opinion of bunnybale and sweetmeadow.

I wish bunnybale would get back to me. I don't want to buy a second bale of Timothy if one comes with the kit.

Randy introduced me to Phydeaux, and I have to say the place is AMAZING!

That's their website. Depending on where you live, Carborro might be a little bit of a trip (or not hopefully!) but it's well worth it! I like their hay prices as well. For the quality of Oxbow, I'm really happy with it.

Besides, it's down the street from me and we could meet and shop there together! haha! :p Especially if you bring your baby! He sounds ADORABLE, such an interesting mix!

It is about a 40 minute ride or so for me there...I have to say I am not fond of that drive. I HATE 40....

Thanks though...I will peek around the site and check things out...

WOW...I like those prices lol!

You are very happy with the Hay? Seems good and fresh?
If so than I will have to make a trip very soon...I need hay SOON!...
I wouldn't mind getting together for a cup of coffee or something somewhere..I always enjoy meeting new people...Simon would probably stay home though. I try to not travel him more than need be. He gets so upset about it and takes him a few hours to get back to normal.

lmao...I just looked over at him. He must like Harry Potter, He is sitting so nicely on the couch and watching TV...THANK GOD! He has been driving me batty tonight climbing on everything...wait I take that back...he just left me two big puddles to clean up...sigh

Perhaps next time I will order from Bunnybale..I would like for them to get back to me before I made a purchase and they still haven't.

I totally understand, I HATE 40 too, haha.

Yeah, my buns aren't big on car rides either, >.< They won't even eat treats, :(

The hay is great, all of their stuff is. The staff is nice and the place is really nice. Local too, :)

I enjoy meeting new people too, maybe we'll be able to get Randy out too! haha

If I can't meet Simon, you'll just have to meet Hazel and Flopsy, :)

Mine are chewers... the only thing they do helpful is they're faithful for peeing in their litterbox... pooping? Not as much, though not bad.. haha

But yeah, the prices are great, let me know, I'll PM you my cell # and you can call if you decide to come on over, :)

Very cool...I might try to make that ride on Monday than..it would be cool if we could all get together...Wouldn't that be awesome..have like a giant rabbits online gathering? Get as many people together as we could? I would love it, it would stress me out but I would love it.

Randy is in Rocky Mount right? I think that is a bit of a drive no?

I don't work...so I don't know if daytime is cool for you or not, but I would prefer to take the drive without my daughter...Would like to keep her out of any petstores for awhile. We lost Alvin tonight...(seeing a trend in names?) lol

He was our Beta Rainbow fish...man she cried for awhile over that. Since we brought him home he has not been eating. I didn't think he would last long. Bummed me out too. I am rather fond of betas. I had one once for 3 years...every one was always blown away by that...but if you take good care of them, why can't they live and be loved a long time?

I believe Randy said he's sometimes in the area. I'm hoping to catch him before he becomes too busy, haha.

I had three betas in HS. They lived about 3 years/little more as well. I cried when I lost them too, :( I become waaayyyy too attached.

Ah, I used to love the chipmunks, :)

The daytime would be great if I don't have classes, haha!

alright than! I will give you a call if I decide to come on over...if not perhaps we can arrange something soon...my friend that came and helped me with Simon the other day actually live in CH...so it would give me double the reason for being there..

Hey guys....I will be going to Durham to a function on Sunday night for Piedmont Wildlife Center. Might take Andre and Chyna....and those wildlife people think they have to deal with large animals....right. Maybe we could meet either before the event or you might could come out. It's not open to the public but I doubt anyone would say anything....and we might even convince you to sign up to help the center...maybe as transporters or volunteers at the hospital. Where else are going to get up close and personal with something like a Bald Eagle?

Also....I have a source for some great hay that maybe you guys can get together and split a bale. The girl that has this hay runs a farm between Selma and Clayton....just a bit east of Raleigh on I-40 (isn't that a wonderful road?) It's so near and dear to all of us...lol. She sells me a 70 pound bale of either orchard grass/alfalfa or timothy/alfalfa for $12.50 per bale. It was intended for use in our litter boxes but these guys eat it like crazy....works for me. It is beautiful hay....and that price is very economical.

Randy

Hey Randy...

wow...I don't know where I would put that much hay lol...good price though...darn. Will have to think that through.
I am very interested in Sunday. That would be something I would like to do..but I would more than likely have to bring my daughter. I might be able to ask my neighbor if she would be cool with watching her.
Let me know the time frame we are looking at and I will see what I can do.
It would be great to meet you both!!

Yay!

Hopefully by then I will have the poor boy either in a rescue, but if not, it'll definitely be nice for you to take a look at him!

That is a GREAT price on hay.... can I keep it in tupperware? Or would I have to keep it in my boiler room closet?
