So I've been having migraine's for a while now off an on. Yesterday I had one which has been a while since my last. I don't know what brings them on but when I get them and they are really bad I tend to puke/vomit.
I think it's possible that maybe it's the heat in the apartment? There are days it's really warm. Or sometimes it feels like maybe I slept to long or not enough?
I've tried taking Motrin for Migraine's but it doesn't seem to help much. Is there anything else I could take??
My mom thinks it's time I should go see a doc. I really not a fan of doctors. The only time I go is when i'm having Asthma problems usually 'cause my Inhaler has run out.
Yesterday's migraine started around 2pm and it's now 1230am and my head still hurts not as bad but it still hurts. ERRRRRRRR..
I've tried to sleep but it's hard when the rabbits need out and my sis wont let them in her room.

Any suggestions appreciated
Rebecca

I think you should see a doc too because they can prescribe meds specifically for migraines and they are stronger than your normal meds and work in a different way, I believe.

I would also suggest keeping a diary of your symptoms, the food you eat, hormones, weather, mood, and anything else you think might be relevant, to see if you can locate what the trigger is, if there is one. For me and my brother it's stress, for my dad its stress and some foods, so working out what it is can make a huge difference because potentially you can figure out ways to prevent it happening.

Migraines suck and I do hope you go to see a doc, because they can do a lot to help.

The pain journal is an excellent idea. We did one for my son.

I also agree that you should see the doctor. My son is being sent for a CAT scan because of his headaches. Our doctor is also sending him to a pediatric neurologist.

Hopefully, you canfigure out what triggers your migraines and also be able to getsome meds to control that debilitating pain.

I don't get migranes very often, but lack of sleep triggers mine.

I didn't call the doc office this morning because I didn't see a point when I don't have my March schedule yet.
Today when I woke up my head started to hurt. :( It hasn't gotten really bad but it's sore still. I also wonder if maybe I'm not taken in enough fluids for the day.

Dehydration could be the cause. I though it might be related to some of my migranes, but the extra liquids didn't help :(

I have a 10 year history with migraines. I have tried tons of treatments: chiropractic, massage, accupuncture, vitamins, etc. etc.

I know one thing, my migraines are related to my hormones. My hormones dip right before my period, and I getmost of my migraines then.

I take imitrex (or another triptan drug) for my migraines. It almost always works.

There can be many different triggers for migraines: dehydration, lack of sleep, certain foods, stress, hormones, etc. etc.

I have a 28 year history of migraines (much of it hormone related) and I am finally feeling as if I've gotten them a bit under control. I take a preventative daily (fairly low dose beta blocker), plus migraine medicine (like Midrin, Imitrex, Relpax, etc.) when I get them. If that doesn't work, I take benedryl. Just plain over the counter benedryl (2 tablets for me). I've tried tylenol, excedrin, motrin, aleve and none of them work as well as benedryl, which is an antihistimine and not a pain reliever but it will help with the nasea/vomiting at least.

If you are having ongoing problems with migraines, it helps to work with your doctor to find just the right medicine. I had just assumed it was something I had to live with until I went and my doctor had a "substitute" doctor because she was away. The temporary doctor recommended the preventative and switching from the Midrin I was taking to Relpax. Worked like a charm. Not every medicine works for everyone so its worth trying different things. I'm much better off now.

*waves* another suffering person from the dreaded migraine.

Mine are hormone and/or stress induced as well - but often I get them for no reason at all.

Do you get any visual aura before the headache and vomitting sets in? If you do, and you're able to (might be hard if you're working or not home) - find somewhere very dark to go lie down/sit down.

I get a blind spot in the centre of my vision that spreads until I can't see at all. Then one of my arms often goes numb, sometimes one side of my face. I can also have small difficulties talking. The first time this happened I thought it was a stroke!

My doctor explained to me that the migraine can often cause some sort of depression on the nerves in our brains, and it's not just a blood vessel thing like previously thought.

I find what helps the most are taking anti-inflammatories that the dr prescribed (voltarin is the brand name), and lying on my bed with the curtains shut and something ove rmy eyes to block out all and any light.

Using these methods I have not had a migraine progress to the huge head pain or vomitting stage for many years.

If you find taking pain relief orally doesn't work as you're vomitting them up, you can get drugs you stick up your bottom that work well...sorry, gross I know!

I know how you feel, I get migranes and I had one very bad the other week and was sick from the pain, I get tunnel vision first then I know to take some medicine but they are still awful, So sorry you suffer from them too :(
