I don't know whatto do when I have apet sitter. I'm going to be out of town for almost the entiremonth of May because I have a trade show, then I'm going to see my bestfriend in Los Angeles, then Shawn and I are going to Hawaii for thechristening of his Goddaughter. I'll be gone at least 3weeks, maybe 4. I have a friend who is going to take care ofthe smaller critters (my Mom will have the dogs and cats). She caneither take them at her house or come here for a little while eachday.
My concerns about them staying here are that they won't get much timeout of the cage as she has her own animals at her house and a job, soher time here would be really limited.
If I take them there, I'm worried about the stress on the rabbits, theother critters would be fine. Also, she has lots of reptileincluding some large snakes. She has 1 bunny, but it is about7 lbs, whereas I have some smaller ones, and I can see her snakesconsuming them. Now, she has never had a problem and theywould not be in the same room as the snakes, but still, I can seegetting a call on my trip: "I have a problem...". She has alarge, noisy bird, too and he can be heard outside the house when hereally screams. I think he might really stress the bunniesand the ferrets. The biggest pro to this would be that if theslightest thing were wrong, she would take them to the vets, especiallyif she couldn't get a hold of me.
I trust her and she has taken care of my animals in the past, but thatwas before the rabbits, so it took less time to for them to get theirexercise. I'm looking for someone else, but most people areafraid of my lizards or the ferrets (my mom is actually afraid of therabbits, although she is getting better -- she even holdsOrion). I really don't want to have to send all the animalsto different people and I refuse to pay a "petsitter" because I've hada bad experience and will only use people I know.
I really don't know what to do. I could maybe take them to mybrother, but I don't know if they will be around because hisgirlfriend's daughter is a competitive cheerleader and they are alwaysgoing somewhere for that.
