Hello :welcome1

I want to get a harness for my rabbit but there are a couple of things I am unsure about.

First of all, my rabbit is quite large. He's a dwarf lop but he's hardly a dwarf! And he's about the maximum size a dwarf lop can be. So, most of the rabbit harnesses I worry will be too small from him, and I have seem a puppy harness that looked better. Would this be okay? Or are there any recommendations of good harnesses?

Second, he is 1 and a half. If it okay to get a harness at this age or should you train them from when they're younger. And how would I go about putting the harness on him and getting him to accept it as my old rabbit refused to let me put it on her, ran scared when I eventually got it on and tried to chew it off. Any tips?

Not completely sure on the size but there are some online stores that specialize in rabbit harness and might carry a larger size.Animals at any age can learn new things it just takes time and patience. If they are scared try putting it on letting them adjust to it while lounging around the house reward them when you put it on to show it is not a bad thing but they get treats when it goes on

I have see cat harnesses that can be pretty big, so should fit most rabbits. Since harnesses are used in agility and rabbit hopping, you might be able to find someone who makes them for the sport and could sell you one, making a more custom size should not be too difficult. It is hard to recommend much without knowing where you live, since selection can vary from country to country.

I do find the H style harness to be best. They don't slip when on the rabbit, so won't choke them (some are one long piece and will tighten if pulled). Most have clips, so they are easy to put on and take off and stay the same size, so no adjusting.

I have found that most rabbits don't have an issue with the H harness. You may need to distract the rabbit so they aren't focused on the harness. Don't use the leash right away, let him get used to the harness first.
