Yesterday I put some carpet pieces down in Peaches' cage. He sniffed them to see what they were and then he was darting in and out of his corner tunnel - round and round again (he couldn't do that before because it was pretty slippery on his linoleum flooring. He could now jump without slipping and even binky on his bottom level (the other levels have the foam puzzle pieces which he's been nibbling at over time so it's not as slippery). Then I caught him either chewing or digging at the new carpet and I told him "Peaches! If you start chewing the carpet or digging in it, I'll take it out and you'll be back to the floor" - I'm not sure if he understood me but it looked like he thought this over for about 5 seconds then went to doing something else.
I never saw him binky on that bottom level but he was binkying yestarday after I put the carpet down and very rarely do I find him hanging around on that level except to hide under his shelf, in his tunnel or come out to his run. He's never flopped there or just sitting there - maybe he will now.
Although I liked the flooring for the ease of sweeping up the hay and this will be pretty hard to keep clean, I think he's much happier with the carpet.
