In the United States, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States.

It's my all-time favorite holiday!! Here are my Top 10 Reasons Why:

10. You don't have spendweeks preparing for it (unlike Christmas.)

9. There's no candy involved.

8. You don't have to bake until you're blue in the face (Thanksgiving.)

7. WalMart, Target, and KMart sell patriotic t-shirts every year for $5.

6. Fireworks!!

5. I don't think I've ever met an American who DIDN'T like the 4th!

4. This year it is especially meaningful, since our oldest son is in Basic Training with the USAF.

3. We no longer have "Taxation without Representation". (We nowhave plenty of BOTH!!:p)

2. Lots of picnics!!

And my #1 reason why the 4th of July is my all-time FAVORITE holiday:

:USAflagwaving: PATRIOTISM...it's always in style!
