I have a friend who has asked me to help her get her britannia petites ready for a show. I would love to do this because it would be fun and will help me get a feel for the breed which always helps for judging contest and the likes. But my problem is that I know how small and hyper they are and would like some tips for handling them so I am more prepared.

It takes some patience to work with Brits and getting them to pose. Do you know if your friend's Brits are biters? If so, then you need fast hands and if not, so much the better. It's hard to describe how to pose a Brit without a video or demonstration. Get your friend to show you how she does it, but there are a couple of different techniques you can use to get them to sit up so that they show off their front leg extension. Brits are really pretty when they will pose.

There are three ways to pose brits. Do not grab them and pose them by their ears. Watch their mouth and itd be nice to wear either wristbands or long sleeves. They like to nip when they get frustrated. Especially the teenagers. I hope she has been teaching them to pose I started at 2-3 weeks with mine. They really need to be worked with everyday! This helps in the show but it also helps to make them better overall brits. If not handled they can become evil little rabbits. Please help her understand this.

With my brits I wasnt too great on posing but working with them alot made it much easier! Here is one of my babies in a nice pose

I usually teach them using the praying way and start by teaching them to stay with me continuing to correct them. Then make them stay sitting with my hand under their chin. When they get good at that I will try to remove my hands. If they hunch back down or move then I will correct them and make them stay for maybe 5 sec. and then increase the time limit the more times they practice. As they stay I will pick them up and put them in a cage or let them run around to let them know good job. Try not to use treats as brits can already be nippy and you dont want them to be looking for it.

Here is a bad pose. The front feet are too close to the back feet

I think the brit website is down? I cant find it anymore. If you or her have the Standard of Perfection there is a detailed description of how to pose them. I cant find anything online about it
