will it be ok if my little Nala ate 2-3 bites of hamster food? it's got seeds and corn pieces and pellets in it and I'm not sure which pieces she ate, only that she got in 2-3 nibbles in before I caught her and yanked the food bowl away :(

we got a glorious cool front, so I was able to take the bunnies outside for a couple hours this afternoon... I texted my neighbor and she came over to visit with them, so I brought the hamster cage outside to show him to her. I took him out of the cage and held him up, leaving the tiny side door open 'cause it's not like there was a hamster waiting to escape from the cage... and as I was looking at my neighbor/holding up the hamster (all of three seconds after removing him), she started pointing at the cage and alerted me to this:

(I didn't grab the camera and snap a pic until after I'd snatched his food bowl away from her :p)

oh, she is VERY naughty today!!! she ESCAPED from her pen for the first time ever early this morning and I found her chilling under the baby grand piano - she's into everything like a hyperactive 2-year-old today! (moreso than usual, I mean). she was also climbing ALL over me/trying to get in my lap when I was working on the hammy's bin cage, but I'm used to that since she did the same thing when I was building their condo.

I LOVE that picture!!!!!!!!! Bunnies are sooo weird at times :p:shock: You have to love them though. I do not think that hamster food will hurt her. Hamster food and rabbit food are made of similar things. This is what I fed my hamsters and mice always. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001VJ56Z8/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20. It is like lab blocks. The animal can not pick and chose what to eat. It helps wear down their teeth. For a science fair project in middle school I compaired 4 different top brands of food for hamsters. This one was the most nutritious by far. I have nothing bad to say about it. I saw it at petco today but not on their website.

that looks like what they were eating at the pet store... it looks good and I like that they can't pick and choose, but I think my hammy might be sad that he couldn't pouch it and take it into his tunnel (I gave him the 4'' diameter ware tunnel that the bunnies outgrew, lol - he loves it!)

I'm just paranoid 'cause corn and seeds are big no-nos in a bunny diet, but she seems fine and it's been over 24h so whatever little bit she ate must be passing through just fine.

I could only find two spots where she could potentially have escaped... the condo entrance/exit which is one grid up and therefore closer to the top of the pens and the hard plastic 8'' diameter tunnel (which was up against the side of the shorter playpen). I've seen her climb on the tunnel once before without it sliding out from under her and she was just the other side of it so I think that's what it was.

Nala's the sort to repeat such antics if possible. I took that tunnel away + fixed it so it wouldn't be possible to go over the pens from the condo opening and she hasn't gotten out again (thank goodness, 'cause the house isn't bunny-proofed).

yeah, she's impossible to stay mad at with how adorable she is :D

I still can't believe she climbed into the hamster cage!
