My rabbit, Stellar (2.5 year old unaltered white/black female hotot x lionhead), had stasis this past week. She went to the vet and was put on Critical Care.

She's now eating her regular food in addition to a bit of critical care mixed with unsweetened apple sauce ('cuz she literally will not eat it with just water added, via syringe or on her own). She's also eating Timothy Hay.

Since she's been sick, however, she's lost a considerable amount of weight due to her not eating. She used to be a good weight for her size (not overweight!), but now I can feel her ribs and spine, which I couldn't before she got sick. Her hair is also all "bumpy" (sticks out), when it used to be nice and smooth. I assume this is also because of her not eating (regularly or at all) for a few days, but what I'm wondering is if I should be taking her back to the vet for either of the symptoms.

When she was sick, she also had not a lot of energy, but she's now back to her normal, impish self.

Thanks in advance for any help given!

Ooooh I'd like to hear about this too. I'm kind of dealing with the same thing with Harvey. He was on antibiotics for a cat bite about a week or so ago. He's also getting skinny. I'm calling my vet monday morning and see if she thinks he needs to come in again.

I would take her back to the vet if you have the opportunuity just for a recheck although she sounds like she is doing OK....usually I would not syringe feed a rabbit who is eating on her own.

Magpie why don't you start a separate thread about your bunny's problem :)

She wasn't eating so she lost a bunch of weight, she is eating now and not gaining? I would suggest getting her some probiotic either Bene-Bac or ProBios.
Expect her to start molting from the stress, she will look worse before she looks well.
