Had a great time at the show today, and the rabbits did very well.

First show:
Max won her 6/8 class (and I think earned a leg)
****erry won her junior class...at only 3 months old. Shocked me, because I thought LaRew was better built. haha
Trisha won her 6/8 class, and then went BOB
Abby won the junior doe class, beating out Ziva (which is what I thought it should be)
Ziva took second
Agent Gibbs took second, but the judge said that he was definitely a good one...that he should mature into a winning rabbit when he mature (all the Cal junior won't even be 3 months old until the 5ht)

Second show:
Max took a second in her 6/8 class
****erry took a second in her junior class...beaten by a doe that had size on her (looked to be almost a 6/8 doe, weight-wise)
LaRew got a 4th (out of only 5).
Trisha got a second in her 6/8 class
Agent Gibbs won the junior buck, and went BOB. Shocked me!
Abby won her junior doe class (only 3 in there this time...everyone else had gone home)
Ziva got DQ'd. I noticed the other day (when trimming nails) that Ziva didn't have a tail! Well, she has one, but it's VERY tiny. I wasn't sure if it was a general DQ (because it just states crooked/wry but I didn't see anything about "barely there") or if it would be a fault (and in Californians, the tail is 0 points anyway). Well, the second judge DQ'd her (after searching the SoP and pondering on it for a while).

All in all, a great day. While I feel better about my ability to help Kitty decide on which Cal to keep and which to sell, I need work on the Frenchies. Mainly posing them correctly, I think, so I can better evaluate them at home!

Congratulations on your wins! I saw that a short tail was a DQ when i was looking through the standard! Lol crazy cause ive never seen it actually been used

Congratulations on such a successful day!

When you sell your buns where do you sell them and how do you ask people if they are good enough home? Or do you only sell them to other breeders?

I find it really unfair that she got disqualified over a shorter tail. But then I don't show rabbits or else I'd probably get upset if every rabbit there wasn't a winner

Thanks, everyone!!

Katie, showing is fun! And you meet so many new people, which is always fun, any time. LOL This show was close, so there were quite a few people that I've known forever (through horses, that just are getting into the rabbit thing, too).

Bonnie, I just advertised on some Facebook pages and our local online classified ads. So far I've only sold 2. One was to a 4-H girl to show, and another to a breeder (which wasn't sold, I traded her my doe for a future buck from one of her litters).

Sarah, the tail is almost non-existent! I'm talking the size of your pinky nail. How she got to be 3 months old and I never noticed it before this week is beyond me. LOL The judge that actually noticed it said that it looked like it might have been chewed off when they were little. I'll post a picture of it. It sucks because she's a gorgeous doe, too.
