We went to an Exotic and small animal auction sale in a nearby city. I have been looking for a pure black mini rex doe for quite a while now, and they had one there!! I did go over the limit I set for myself, but that's okay. She looks really nice, and the description does say that she is 6 months old, but looks smaller than my others did at 6 months old. So, I figure I will give her a while to get used to us and the area before breeding her.

We also came across a black mini rex buck. I did get him, but for only $7.50. I was super excited, but then when I went to check him out (I didn't see him before), I found out he has two very bad eyes.. both looked infected and he as a sore and a bald spot on his back. Poor guy. I am going to try a few things I found online and on this site, hopefully they work!!

We also came home with 2 "lop eared" bunnies. Not sure what type of lop, and how old. Neither have lopped ears yet, but I am thinking that they re only roughly 6 - 7 weeks old.

Can I breed 2 blacks to eachother? Will that give us a good chance in moreblack kits?
Thanks

Did either of them come with pedigrees? It's hard to say without knowing history but yes you can and most likely will get some blacks. Congrats!

Be careful though over here black pet bunnies can be hard to sell

Unfortunately, neither are pedigreed. But, I have the contact info for the people who took them to the sale. So, I will be contacting them this week to find out. I am unsure what is wrong with my buck though, I will be taking him to the vet soon. For now, I will be monitoring his food and water intake. He did poop lots lastnight and all looked normal, so that is good. He wont let me near him though. Keep running away! :( We will get him better though.

The little lop eared guys are pretty scared though. Gonna have a lot of work to do with these guys. I think I am going to try breeding my new black mini rex to my broken red buck, maybe I can get a few nice tris.

Thanks for the warning on the black bunnies. I will try one litter, and if they don't sell so well, I will not do that pair again. lol.

Luckily the box that the new buck came in, had a contact card in it. So, sent the previous owners an email. Not because I was upset that the buck was in bad shape, but because I wanted to know if they knew for sure what was wrong with him and if they had any suggestions on how to treat it. Was told that the poor guy was in a fight with his brother last week! Poor guy. So, while I am relieved that we don't have an eye infecton or anything else, I am still feeling pretty bad for the little guy. Will be cleaning his eyes tonight anyways, just so we can prevent anything more happening to him. Hopefully we can get him fixed up so that we can get him breeding!:)
