y daughter rang me at 2 this morning .. gah .. crying her eyes out as she said her piggie Dylan kept sort of fitting; jerking about then going onto his side.

Prior to that, for the last week or so, he has been behaving really strangely. He runs around his cage like billyo .. jumping up onto the top of his little house and staring out.

She's been cuddling him, but he's very restless .. so I advised her to put him back in his cage. He kept running around again and she cut up a few celery bits for him to nibble on and he kept standing on his hind legs looking out of the cage .. I told her to cover the top of the cage with a light scarf to keep the draughts out and also to maybe make him feel more secure.

She's bringing him to my house today as I had to look after him last week as they were having an inspection of the pub and pets aren't really allowed. He's fine at ours .. or he has been .. laying in my arms, chatting away .. back legs stretched out ...

The thing is .. the pub is haunted .. stupidly as it may be, do you think Dylan is freaked by the atmosphere? They have a cat that goes mad at times and runs to the end of the corridor staring at the door to the guest rooms ... where the ghost has been experienced.

Or is it something medical? Either way .. if he continues with being madly skittish here when he comes, I will get him to the vets.

Well, they say animals have a sixth sense for those kind of things, so maybe! Best to get him to the vet ASAP though.

:yeahthat: I think that if it were something really medical, he would be behaving like that all of the time regardless of where he is. Sounds like he is having way too much anxiety at your daughters place. Maybe he should stay with you for a few days just to see if he will have 'fits' in the environment of your home. If not, then maybe he could back to your daughters placeto see if it happens again and how fast. It would be good to have a base-line experience to tell the vet this is what is going on and this is how I know it isn't normal for my pig.

Not sure if I helped or not, but I am sure you don't want him to get hurt from such 'off' behavior.

Sounds like it could be mites. I rescued a pig that had a bad mite infection and she was acting like you describe.

Is there any hair loss or thinning? Scabs?

Hi .. sorry I haven't replied to this till now.

Dylan went to the vets and we thought it was mites ... but he also had a lump at the back of his neck that was a possible war wound from his pet shop days so the vet injected him with anti parisite stuff and anti biotics.

I've since found out what it really is ...

The little devil is "popcorning" on Hannah's chest ... trouble is she has a huge bosom and he falls over, so it seemed like he WAS fitting.

He is so happy to have company that he bounces around and chats like mad, licks you to death and nibbles your hair.

I have a little video of him doing this..

That is the best explanation you could ever get! He's so happy that he's gone loopy!

Watching him go all crazy while on your tummy was just too cute. Can you imagine a bunny doing binkies on your chest?
