First off, my little Snowball loves to eat yogurt drops. Typically, I feed him one a day. However, the other day I read that these drops are equivalent to cheeto's for humans and that the drops shouldn't be fed to rabbits. Seeing this, I've stopped giving them to him for the time being. Is this true?

And secondly, I got a list of greens from the House Rabbit Network (and my vet) that I should feed my little guy. But, I found out they can also eat broccoli and other sorts of greens that aren't on the list.I always seethe green, red and romain lettuce, as well as mint, basil thyme and all those similar greens. But I've heard of rabbits eating other greens.I was just wondering what sorts of greens your rabbits enjoy munching on?

Yeah.. definitely avoid yogurt treats! Very sugary and not healthy. Instead, stick to limited quantities of fruit or carrots as treats and avoid store bought treats. Will save you money as well!

My guys get quite a wide range of vegetables. I usually like to mix it up so I'm not feeding the same vegetables day after day, week after week. The 'norm' from best liked to 'will eat if it's there: Kale, carrots, snow peas, broccoli, cilantro, parsley (both flat leaf and curly), bok choy, mint, romain lettuce, celery, and spinach.

There's also things from the outdoors my rabbits love! Just make sure they haven't been sprayed and are 100% safe to eat. A few of my guys' outdoor favourites are blackberry leaves/stems, grass (from our bush -rarely gets mowed and is quite long!), dandelions and grape leaves/vines.

As you can tell, fresh food is a large part of my guys' diet! :D

I'll definately avoid the yogurt treats from now on. He seems to go for the pellets immediatelynow that I've taken them away(I only give him a teaspoon in the morning and at night).

That's a good variety of greens. There's several that I haven't given him yet. I'll have to look into them.

Thank you!

When I got my 2 new baby buns after Sassy passed away. I found a new awesome doctor who knows alot about rabbits. He does alot of wildlife rescues. He told me "No" fruits or yogurt treats. Nothing sweet! No apples, No bananas....Etc.He said he's seen rabbits die from eating fruit cause it's high in sugar. I use to give Sassy fruit and Craisins, but I will not be giving my new bunnies any fruit at all. Only veggies :)

Edit: As far as Veggies, Sassy ate most the veggies Spring listed. Kale, Cilantro, Parsley, Spinach, Romaine, Carrot Tops, Dandelion Greens, mustard greens,etc..

Oh really? I wasn't too sure on how to find a vet. But I ended up calling a veterinary place that called my doctor "The Bunny Expert" and she's been very knowledgable so far and she is noted for her bunny-smarts. She told me I could feed him some fruits as a small treat, but not in large amounts or very often. But, I've been nervous to feed him a whole lot of it for the reason that you've said. I wouldn't want to harm him in anways. Even if he does like the treat he's given.

thank you for your help!

I'm new to bunnies so whenthe doctold me he's seen bunnies die from fruit. I'm not gonna give mine fruit. If you do give Snowball fruit, I would give in small amounts, like you said. He just kinda scared me. After losing Sassy, I don't want to do anything to lose another bunny.

I give my bunnies craisins and fruit! Of course, not nearly as much as veggies. But they do get a couple craisins or other fruit treats almost every night. :)

Yeah! I read a lot of information online that makes me nervous because they made it sound that the very tiniest of things could be fatal and to bring them to a vet immediately! But, if I were to do that, I'd be there more often than not...so I'm kinda that"paranoid-new-parent" at the moment haha
