Ok, so I have been seeing everyones NIC cages and really like the idea of doing a multi-level cage that wouldn't take up nearly as much space in my living room as Melody's current 4x4x3 cage. My only hesitation is that Melody is 7 and though he occasionally thinks about climbing, he really isn't a climber. Do you think that maybe he is too old to build him a multi-level?

You probably know your bunny the best but I have heard of people say their buns aren't climbers and prefer space out instead of up.

It's hard for me to say because Agnes is a big climber. Scares the crap outta me sometimes, but she climbs and jumps all over. So we have a 3 level NIC condo and she loves it.

But like i said, you know your bun the best. You could custom the levels lower or with taller steps to help him climb too. But ultimately it's up to you.
good luck!

You could always build ramps up and down from the different levels. Buster likes hopping up, but likes the ramp to be able to go down on.

Ceri used to jump onto the couch and on top of her "little house" (a small dog house) all the time. Melody used to get on his hind legs and look whenever Ceri was on the couch and I have seen him try and jump on top of the little house. I think he has figured out that he can't do it because I haven't seen him do it in awhile.
Hmmm. I might have to try the ramp idea.
I'm just not sure.

My Korr is almost 7 and has a multi level cage. He has no issue getting up and down, but has also had the cage for some 5.5ish years.

You could try adding a level or shelf to your cage and seeing what he does. You can use a ramp for it so he doesn't have to jump up. If he likes it, then you could look more into building a multi level cage, but if he doesn't then it would not be hard to take it out.

you could do just a two-story cage and then he'd only have to get up one ramp, but still gets twice the space. My Bunny loves being up high, and he prefers the ramp to just jumping up levels. Just make sure the ramps are slip proof so he can use his nails to hold on!
