Cinder likes to pull out her dewlap fur on occasion and make a pretty nest of cotton. Last night must have been one of those nights. I went to feed her and there it was. Of course I get this look like "who me" , i'm miss innocent". I remember the first time she did this and it scared the heck out of me. She is not fixed, and has false pregnancies. I am wondering if I get her fixed if she will stop doing this. The only reason I haven't is because it is really expensive to do so where I live. All I can say is she sure looks extra pretty today. i wonder what her mate Roger thinks.

Roger probably just wishes she'd stop fussing over her nest and give him a good grooming. ;)

Some spayed bunnies will still build nests, but they won't have the hormonal behaviour that goes along with false pregnancies.

If he's is already neutered, then you don't have to spay her. But we definitely promote spaying and neutering here on the forum. It eliminates hormonal behaviours, reduces the chance of uterine cancer to zero, and makes it easier, should you ever find yourself in the unfortunate circumstance, to rehome her. Plus, there is always that slim chance she could come in contact with an intact male and then you've got babies!

If money is an obstacle, there are vets who'll do low-cost spays. Contact your local shelters and rescues. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

Hope that helps!
