I am thinking of finding a companion for Olive, my Holland Lop. She is five months old (approximately) and already spayed and healed (she had an early surgery--at four months). She's litter trained (at least the pee goes in the box) and very docile. Just recently, I've let her be free range in the house when I'm home, and she's done very well. She used to nibble on the furniture a little bit, but she seems to have stopped needing to 'test' her environment that way. She doesn't seem to be going through any wild teenage phase (I'm sure an early spay helped that--no hormones to deal with) and is, if anything, becoming more and more an integral part of our lives now that she is more free range. Would I totally be upsetting the apple cart by introducing another bun?
My experiences with bonding bunnies prior to this have been pretty stress-free; some minor scuffles and chasing but nothing nasty. However, reading some of the stories on this forum makes me realize how lucky I am.
I might take her to the shelter later on this afternoon so we can have bunny dates with some eligible bachelors... I called the shelter and they definitely allow a meet and greet, and I think this would be a good way to see if she's a potential match for a worthy suitor .
