Ok so I have not been to the doctor sense I was 16 now 21.

It is a well women and a physical. For me.

What questions should I ask what should I take I have gotten medical history for my grand parents on down for maternal and father is getting his together for me.

So what else do I need or should I take.

What should I ask about I am getting on birth controle what do yall use or like the best.

I am going to ask about my ears I think I have had a on going ear infection for about a year now keeping it at bay with small does of antibiotics and cleaning my ear.

As for hubby he is going for the first time in almost ten years.
He is getting medical history also from parent what else do we need.

Help this is our first time going to the doctor without parents

i would first call ahead. sometimes they like to do full bloodwork on physicals, and you might need to not eat the night before getting them done (to check blood sugar levels and such).

as far as birth control goes, it really depends on the person. i am currently taking yazmin and LOVE it, but i suffer from PMDD badly, and this birth control pill has the right balance or hormones to help control that.

but i am terrible at remembering to take my pill every day (i even have an alarm set on my phone to go off at the same time every day and i still forget sometimes). some people love the shots, or the rings, others swear by the copper cross (IUD).

also ask your dr based on your health and labs what supplements you should be taking. how much of those and what you need to take with them to make them work better. if you are already taking anything (even a multi-vitamin) make of list of what they are, what brand, and what dose.

and the biggest thing is to be completely honest. if you smoke, tell the doctor that, if you have 2 drinks a week, tell them that.

and if you have any random questions this is the appointment to ask them at. so whatever you want to ask about. for physicals a doctor schedules more time to see the patient. there is nothing harder for a doctor's office to handle then a person that came in for a fallow up appointment (normally a 15 to 20 minute thing) and sits there rattling on random questions about everything and takes 30 or 40 minutes. it backs the whole office up.

good luck! i wish i didn't have to go to the dr. all the time, but between med reviews, my back, and getting regular labs drawn i feel like i am always there!

Taking a good family history down is a very good start - you prob have to fill out forms for that info to give them. Katt is right - make sure you know if you need to be off medication or fast before going (if you are doing a blood test you typically do need to stop eating like 12 hrs before at least).

Smoking and medical history are important to let the doc know for birth control considerations. Depending on what that is the doc should help determine the best drug on the market for YOU. I am on Yaz. I used to be on Lessera and it made me too loopy and gave me a lot of period-related migraines. The gyno switched me to Yaz after a year of suffering through that and I am much happier with it. Some people have issues with Yaz and Yasmin and they are perfectly happy on some of the older meds on the market. It's all dependent on you. It can take a few tries before you hit the perfect birth control med for you. I wish you good luck!!

Think about what quirks and things (like that ear infection is a good one) that have always kinda lingered but you never had the chance to get a medical opinion. Skin related? vision? Throat? Cough? Abdominal pain? back pain? bones, arms, legs, joints? Allergies? Write all this stuff down to get the most out of your visit!!!

Good for you for getting this visit done so you both can take better care of yourselves!!!
