Me and Mr Jen are going away tomorrow for the weekend. It's my nan and grandad's 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, and since it's quite an achievement, my aunty is throwing a family party for them in the house she rents (actually it's more like half a mansion I hear) up in Durham. It's about 6 hours drive, so we're driving up tomorrow, and staying in a hotel Friday and Saturday night, and driving back Sunday.

Our pet sitter is looking after the bunnies twice a day and she's great- a trained vet nurse as well plus she only lives round the corner. I am a bit worried about Dotty coping without her morning cuddles while we're gone- she might jump up on the bed and I wont be there! :nerves1

It's also Steve's birthday on Saturday- and he still agreed that we should go up and do the family thing! Bless him! We'll go out for some sort of meal tomorrow night to celebrate it then instead :)

I will probably check the forum on my iPhone in the car and such but it's a pain in the bum to write posts so you may see me online, but you may not 'see' me! :p

have a fabulous time:D im sure madam dotty will make her feelings known when you come home:rollseyes get ready for a really long bunny guilt trip:D

Thanks guys!

Last time we left Dotty for 2 nights just after Christmas, when we came back she just came bounding up to us as normal. Although we had only had her a week or so by then. Touch wood she'll be the same this time! We always get angry thumps from the others though. They are always mad when we go away! We have got plenty of toys for them though, and they will get a run around when the pet sitter is about.

I have been SO, so ill today, and we have to get up really early and tidy, pack, and go! Plus I have to wrap Steve's presents and smuggle them into our luggage lol :p

Hello!

We're back!! :D

We left at 9.45am this morning and hurtled down the motorway and made it back at 2pm. Was a lovely sunny day so I stopped to buy grids on the way home and built an extra pen so now all 5 bunnies can be out in the garden together!

The hotel was lovely, and OMG my aunty and uncle DO really live in a mansion! It's a place in Durham called Burn Hall, and it's basically a big old stately home, and they live in one upper wing of it. They have a living, dining and kitchen all the size of our house each, plus 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Even the bathrooms are at least the size of my living room! The front entrance has big old pillars and there's a sweeping staircase up to their 'apartment'. It's only rented so it's hideously decorated but soooo, soooo nice.

The grounds, oh my gosh the grounds. There are acres upon acres of fields, paths, a river, etc etc. Looking out their window you can see fields of sheep and TONS of little lambies! Me and Steve stood there ages watching them do little 'lamb binkies'. And talking of binkies, they have loads and loads of wild rabbits living in the grounds! We were watching about 15 of them at one point running, binkying, 'courting' and scampering about, including baby ones. It was so lovely to see.

My nan and grandad were so sweet together, too. My aunty had applied for them to have a letter from the Queen for their Diamon anniversary, and they were nearly in tears when they opened the notification that it was on it's way. They also did a very tearful mini-speech thanking us all. Bless them! There were 19 of us altogether and not once did that big huge house feel crowded! We also spent all afternoon having a table tennis tournament (which I just watched), and I talked weddings with my cousin who is getting married in November.

Steve had a nice birthday yesterday too. On Friday we had a lovely meal at the hotel together to celebrate, and everyone sang to him yesterday. I got him a t-shirt and a Wii game, because I was poor at the time lol.

I have pictures of the big huge house and stuff that I will upload later! :D

Now, to start catching up!

Glad you had a great time Jen! So...what did you think of my home town?:biggrin2:
Durham was lovely! Really pretty in the centre, and lovely views all around. Actually, on the Friday, Steve wanted to take me to an Italian restaurant in the centre- I think it was called Sorrento's? A friend of his used to live there when she was at uni and said it was really nice and romantic. So we went to the centre and parked in the big car park under Bhs. I was wearing heels because I didn't think it would be far, but we ended up walking up one hill, round a corner, down another to a bridge, where the restaurant wasn't there, so we walked back round, up and down the hill again, across another bridge, and by this time my feet were near bleeding from walking on cobbles and in heels! We never found the place so either it had moved or closed down. I walked barefoot back to the car and we went to the hotel for dinner! The next morning we dashed in so I could buy plasters and flip flops from Monsoon because my feet were in shreds and couldn't fit into shoes LOL.

I wish we'd had more time to have a proper nose around and see more stuff, but what I did see, was lovely! The nices place I've been in the North so far lol! :D
