I'm leaving in less than two weeks, on December15th and staying till January 7th! Going to stay in Adelaide, with my boyfriend and his step-family.

I'm very excited, I've never been before. I went to Hawaiifor a week, but that was with band in highschool.

So any locals have any good activities to do?

I really want to try surfing, snorkling, and I would love to go to a zoo.

Cool! I live in Australia. It's really nice here... No, we don't all talk like most other people think we do. :) I'mnot sure about where you live, but it can get pretty hot here duringthose months, so bring lots of t-shirts and shorts. The zoos down whereI live are pretty nice, the animals are well cared for and such, butI'm not sure about up in Adelaide.

Have a look around, there's usually heaps of stuff to do here. If yousearch around on the internet a bit, you could probably find a placewhere you can do pretty much anything you want to [except snowboarding. That's one thing we don't get much of down here, except up inthe mountains. We had a bit of snow down here in Ballarat a littlewhile ago when it was only about 14 degrees celcius[?]].

I hope you enjoy your vacation!

Hi Dawn!...I'm an Adelaide girl :D

Do you know that you are coming to the most quieteststate ofAustralia lol,we don't really have a ton of things to do here, not likethe other states, they have fun theme parks and everything, but there areother things to do and see here:)

But Adelaide is a very pretty state, especially at this time of theyear,so you chose a good time to come over here,it's summer time, sopack lots of summer clothes,it can get very hot:D

Yes we have a very nice zoo that you can checkout, there is a prettyriver that runs just near the zoo,you can always take a stroll downthere

Snorkling would be good..even though i would not have the guts to try it myself

How are you getting around sightseeing?

As we will be staying with family, I believe wewill have access to a vehicle. And I'm sure they've planned afew things to do, but I still like to have my own activities just incase.

I went snorkling once before, when I went on a band trip to Hawaii, andit was the most amazing experience ever! The water wasn'tvery deep, but the fish where so cool, and me and my friend justfloated and watched for hours. Of course we ended up reallysun burnt, but it was so much fun.

I'm really curious about all the unique animals that Australia has, which is why I want to go to a zoo. But I also wanted to makesure it was a zoo that treats it's animals well, because I'd hate to goand then see animals in distress. But if the zoo in Adelaideis a good one, then I'm definitly going!

As for amusement parks and such, I really don't care too much for thatstuff. We've got plently of that type of thing in Vancouver(and one of the world's largest malls complete with amusement park inthe neighboring province).

I really want to see the culture, and experience things that are uniqueto the area. I would love to go hiking or walking throughsome really nice scenery, or go to some cool heritage museum.

I'm going to have to be really careful about getting sun burnt, as itonly takes about 20 minutes of our Vancouver sun and I turnred. So lots and lots of sun screen for me! And I'mprobably going to have to buy some more shorts, as I only have onepair, but I do have lots of tank tops.

Ahh don't worry about the zoo,it's lovely andthe animals are treated very well,if you go on a nice warm day,the zoois lovely just to stroll around :)

Ohh we have some fantastic bushwalkingparks inAdelaide,Morialta falls is one of those parks, that's where i go in thewinter time to watch the waterfalls...it's so pretty and i highlyrecommend that park.

We have a cool heritage museum in the city,it takes you through thelifes of the early settlers and what they went through..it really isfacinating

Then there is the big normalmuseum

Ohh and if you get the chance, you have to take a drive up into theAdelaide hills,it's just so pretty up there, and they also have a placein the hills called Gumaracha..they have a wooden toy factory therewhich has a giant rocking horse out the front that you can climb up toit's head.....omg,you will never catch me up there! it's just way tohigh..but it's a great attraction :)

Oh wow, thanks for all the suggestions!

I will definitly try to do some of that. I don't know whatI'll have time for, but I'll definitly keep those options in mind.

I'm going to miss my bunnies so much though, but I'm so glad they'll be in good hands.

And the plane ride is going to be so long! With all the pitstops and connections, it's going to take us over 24hrs to get there.

Um, I actually have no idea!

I should really find that out.

As we are staying with family, we get picked up from the airport and then will be staying at their house.

I'll PM you the area once I find out!
