Hi Guys,
So I returned from the vet about an hour ago with my 1.5 year old bunny who seems to have a bout of GI stasis. We could not pin point the cause of it besides assuming that because his back teeth need to be trimmed it is causing some pain and that is why he's not eating. I got the number for an exotic vet that can trim them after I call to schedule a meeting tomorrow. I gave him the medicine he was prescribed, Meloxicam, cisapride, and metaclopromide, with some oxbow critical care and water. My first QUESTION is does anyone know how much Critical Care a 3 lb rabbit should be getting at one time. I have the dosage chart that says 4.0 tbs but then that should be spread to 4-6 feedings. I'm not sure how much to give him at one time. My second QUESTION is i noticed after I picked him up off a blanket that he had pooped and the droppings are covered in mucus and very soft. Is this normal for something right after GI? I'm glad he's going but not sure if this is what I want to see... THANKS!

After my bun started recovering from stasis, his first poops had mucous in them too. It's from the inflammation of the intestinal lining. It should gradually start improving over the next few days, though the improvement can go up and down for a few days.

For my 3 lb rabbit, I was giving about 6-9cc of a pudding like consistency, every 4 hours. You can usually tell when they've had enough as they start putting up a much bigger fuss then when you started. As my bun started eating more on his own, I gradually tapered down that amount.

Before your bun went into stasis, did you notice any difficulty eating certain foods or a decrease in appetite? What kind of diet was your rabbit on? I see the picture of your bun. Does he happen to be a dwarf hotot?
