First of all - Harmony nested on day 18 - kept her nest for 4 days and then pooped in it.

However - I believe she is still pregnant as she's been getting bigger and if these aren't babies - she has the strangest gas.

Today is day 34...

The nearest vets that handle rabbits are 70 miles away....our local vets won't work with rabbits. They are closed on weekends (no such thing as an emergency vet here unless you travel 150 miles which I HAVE done before).

So Oxytocin is out.

I live 3 miles from Mexico....the stores here carry cilantro - not parsley.

Parsley is out.

Lavender leaves? Ha ha ha.

Dandelion greens? What a joke when you're almost a desert...well...not that bad...but still yet. Haven't seen dandelions or greens in years.

Only other thing I've read is a warm bath with a tummy and back massage...on Barbi Brown's website if I remember right.

Sure - I really wanna fight with an almost 20 pound rabbit to give her a bath.

Any other advice?

There has got to be some place that you can get oxytocin. If there is a Tractor Supply near you, check there.

It was my understanding that this is a prescription drug though....

I will probably call and check.

I just checked their website....it isn't listed. I'm sure it is via. script only...

Yeah it probably is. I was going to say ask a hospital (for humans) but I am sure there is no way they would do that for a rabbit ;)

I'm almost wondering if she is pregnant. I mean - I found out that her nipples can stand out, etc. even if she's not pregnant (and I'm horrible at palpating).

I'm going to keep an eye on her - but after checking her weight (she only gained 8 ounces) - I'm leaning towards thinking she's not pregnant - just grumpy at me continually checking her.

Wow that's nuts! Mate she isn't prego but I would be going nutty just like you. Make her lay on your bed with her and see if you see any babies moving. Sarah is due in acouple of days an I can wath babies moving around.

Do you have the male? Put her in with the male, if she accepts she definitely isn't pregnant. If she runs away and growls at him then it is likely she is.
I hope she is all right, I have heard of rabbits kindling at 36 days but it is very rare.

Well - as it turns out - she only gained 8 ounces since her prepregnancy weight and Blue Giants informed me that kits would be 3-4 ounces each...so she's probably not pregnant.

Raspberry Leaves

Also if you lightly put your hand on her belly if she's pregnant you can feel babies!

I guess that I probably wasn't obvious enough that if I can't even get parsley...I certainly can't get stuff like raspberry leaves, etc.

I'm used to feeling the belly of 3 and 4 pound lionheads, etc. (yeah - some of my best does were overweight) - but trying to feel the belly of a 17 pound flemish giant who is not happy with you is a far different matter....much harder for me to feel (particularly if she only has one or two kits).

Some grocery stores actually sell dandelion greens, so you could try checking there.

I've had great success with lavender. It has a direct impact upon the uterus, assisting and speeding up the birthingprocess significantly. I usually give it to does who may be strainging during labor and I can tell you personally, that lavender works miracles in minutes.

Also, strawberries which are high in iron could help prevent any miscarriage problems that may be occuring.

I hope this helps!

Peg, Do you have a tea shop in town? Sometimes you can get pure, food grade, dried lavender there. Some people like to add it to evening teas.

Oxbow also makes a lavender and chamomile treat. It wouldn't hurt anything to give it a try if you can find it.

My Siamese Sable doe lost two litters before her third and first successful one. What form is this lavendar that I can give to her? She has a very hard time birthing. When is the best time to give it to her, too?
