Short history, my mom received a Rabbit around 2 weeks ago that was found out running around outside in a park by someone my father works with. My dad brought her home, and we took her to the vet the next day, all looked good. At first she wasnt really pooping and was on an antibiotic for an infection in her toe nail, and was also given bene-bac. Now - she is doing great, doesnt like to be picked up, but if you get her from her cage she cuddles with you, she is eating very well, drinking, and pooping like a champ. A few days ago she got out of the room when my mom was going in and fell down the steps, but she is ok, mom kept an eye on her and there is no problems, no limping, and she is eating and acting fine.

My mom was watching her the other night in her cage and she said her stomach was moving around, she could see it from outside the cage. So she and i want to know if it could be gas moving, or the gut just moving and digesting, or is it more likely that there are lil babies in her?????????????? As nice as it would be to experince lil babies, i would rather just read about it with someone elses rabbits, lol.

Well, not knowing her history, prior to two weeks ago, I'd guess you have to be ready for anything! Yes it could be gas or normal gut mobility. But just incase... gestation is usually 31 days.

I'd have a box ready incase she starts gathering hay, pulling fur or building a nest. A shoe box will do (or anybox she can comfortably fit in and turn around, not too big though). I prefer to put in an absorbant layer (newspaper, Yesterdays news, etc.) and stuff the box with hay.Let her dig a hole in the middle and line it with her fur. Put the box in whichever corner she starts building in...Pick up any fur she pulls and put it in the box.

Thank you (and your mom) very much for taking her in. If she is pregnant, it's so much better that she doesn't kindle in the wild.

Oh thank you, I found it too funny that right before Easter we were presented with her, lol.

Does the nest box have to be covered? I guess not if i can use a shoe box.

I will be ok as long as there are no lop babies, the minute one of the babies would have lop ears i will be a gooey mess of "gotta have em" lol

Is is possible to see the gut moving? I know there guts are powerful to move all the stuff through but was wondering if it is possible to actually see it?

The nest box doesn't have to be covered, especially if she is indoors and it's warm. (Some does like the covered boxes because they can sit up high and get away from the babies.)

Sometimes you can see the gut moving, but it's usually pretty subtle and not noticable. Alls you can do is wait and see. But it's great you are so observant! (Most people wouldn't have noticed!) With everything she has been through, both before and since you got her, it could be her digestive system adjusting to the new foods and environment.

Hate to say it, they don't even need lop ears! I go all gooey over any bunny baby!

I freaking stink at waiting, lol!!!!!!! Well i will keep everyone up dated if anything happens. I gave my mom a shoe box, and have been relaying to her what you said and what she has to do. My mom said that Abby likes me better then her!!!!! lol, I said it was cause i gave her craisins the other day and everybunny loves craisins, lol, but she does seem to be warmed up to me more then my mom, lol. I love bunny lovin, lol.

Especially if it was soon after a meal, you may have seen peristalsis, which is therippling motion of muscles in the digestive tract. It can be quite pronounced in some rabbits.

I dont' know about pregnant ones, but I would think that would present more like bumps and wiggles than a ripple?

You'll find out soon enough I guess. ;)

sas :D

I would also say to be ready for babies, just in case. Kits moving in the belly can definatly look like a ripple, BTW. That is more what it looks like, actually, is like waves, sort of. And if she is far enough along to be seeing the movement, you shouldn't have long to wait.

oh my, well as far as i know at this moment nothing but i havent seen mom yet today.

Is there anything special we should have on hand that i might not have for babies?

Well mom went into the room that Abby has been residing in andt here was a tuft of hair on the floor, so she might have possibly pulled it. So my mom got the shoe box and put it in her cage just in case. The other day i went in the room to see her and she was sssssssoooooooooooo lovable, and was licking me to death and cuddly with me so we will see i would assume that it would be anytime now

Well i just got back from my moms house and it wasnt a tuft of hair but alot of tufts of hair. Looks like it is realy going to happen, while i was there sitting with her she was very active constantly moving and not sitting still when she usually moves about then flops out for a little nap.

Is it normal for her to cut back on her veggies when she is nearing delivery? my mom has noticed the last week that she isnt eating all her veggies, or should she worry?

She is really loving me and laying on me and licking me, I think her and I relate because of the pregnancy hormones . I hope she is a good mom and does what she is suppose to.

I like to call the kits in tummy movements TIDAL WAVES. But many including experienced breeders brushes off the possibilities of pregnancy based on these obvious movements. They normally believe it to be gut movements or gas.

I am hoping 2 of my does to be pregnant at the moment. At first things look quite positive as I am getting quite regular waves. One of the does have quite a huge belly but the "waves" sort of stopped today. I hope the kits did not die in her.

The other doe has waves at 2 weeks after bred. Could it be that soon to have waves?

I sure do hope they are pregnant.

It sounds close, so you might want to give herone Tums a dayfor the next few days, that can prevent her having any calcium issues.

My does generally go quieter and eat less the day before delivery, but not prior to that. How is she acting in herself?

My pregnant foster doe was moving around a lot and then flopping a lot. It could be she is preggy, it could be it's hormonal as well. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut keep being prepared just in case. You'll really need to keep a very close eye on her since you really don't know if she is, nor when she'd be due. I wonder if anyone in your area would be able to palpate? It'd be better if you knew if she is or not, that way you'd know what to look for.

I don't like these situations. Lol. They stress me out.

I love baby bunnies :D Hope she does ok but she should since she is pulling fur. Just got to make sure the babies are fed everyday.

I am expecting babies today. Yesterday while I was palpating her the babies was jumping like crazy in her but she didn't have any milk while today when I checked she has LOADS of milk. Expecting them to be born tonight, she has 2 in her that I know of.

THis waiting stuff is for the birds, lol. I do get worried because she is not fat at all, she doesnt "look" pregnant. As far as she acting like herself, this is hard because my mom has only had her 3 weeks or so, so she is acting like a normal rabbit. EAting and pooping, but cutting back on her veggies since my mom got her, so what she is eating could just be normal for her, KWIM? Well there is a box in there and we put the fur in there and as of this morning there is nothing. As soon as she would have them i will take pics, this will be our first litter ever, we are praying that she is a good mama and knows what to do cause we dont, lol. IF she does have babies its not because of anything we did, she was found running in a local park and bought in by my mother so we dont even know if she is or not, gosh this would be so much easier if we knew for sure, lol.

Well an update , we are at over 35 days so it is safe to say that there are no babies. It would have been nice to have some lil buns here but it is OK that there are none, because its not like there is a short supply of rabbits needing homes, lol. Abby will now be being moved ddownstairs in the kitchen or living room so now when i go over i can see her more, lol. She loves me, and if Belle keeps her little stinking attitude up towards my Sooty i will replace her  with Abby, HA HA just kidding i wouldnt get rid of Belle.

Thanks for waiting with me and helping me out in what to do if there were babies, I appreciate it. :bouquet: :hugsquish:
