Hi! I am wanting to start a Rabbitry of my own. With a maximum of five breeders. No more!!! I had a pet mini Rex and she was the sweetest thing! I am going to breed a variety of colors out of the five. I kinda have an idea of the setup! I have a shed that I can keep them in. I want to give them the best I can! I was wondering where you all get your all-wire breeding cages? I want 24x24 for the breeders and 30x36 for the babies and moms with litters. Right now I have three mini rexes. One is a black and white mini Rex doe. The other is a Blue eyed white mini Rex doe. And the last (but not least) is a castor mini Rex buck. My black and white doe's name is Clover. The blue eyed white's name is Sky. And the Castor's name is Si. I was wondering if you guys can show me your Rabbitry setups and supplies! I've been watching videos on YouTube for ideas. I hope you can help!!

So there's a lot of flags and questions that I wanted to ask after reading your post but the big one is are you breeding for shows or to have people able to show your offspring in the future or are these going to just be for pets? If for shows I think you need a new focus instead of raising a bunch of colors for only five rabbits. That is an extremely small herd for mini Rex and if you're breeding for quality is going to be near impossible unless you have nice stock to start with. Going to local shows can be a way to get stock but for a small Rabbitry I wouldn't recommend it. The rabbits you need to have must be of very high quality. That means purchasing stock at places like mini rex nationals or ARBA convention. Also if you are breeding for quality and for people to have a possibility of showing babies you produce I would highly recommend not breeding the blue eyed white. When you breed BEWs with a normal colored rabbit you have a very high chance of getting Vienna marked babies (these are rabbits with white spots or Dutch like markings). They make cute pets but are a disqualification in shows. The best thing for any small breeder is to breed like the offspring you produce could eventually be shown even if they are just for pets and of course never breeding those with genetic or health issues and removing those that do from the herd. That being said stick with one or two colors see how you like it and then get more. Just remember you can always buy more cages lol

As far as the housing those sizes sounds very good and people order cages from places like KW cages and bass equipment

Thanks guys! That's helpful! The BEW is my sisters and she said she is only selling the babies as pets so its ok to breed her to my buck! Thanks!!! I'm in NY!
