Luna is a free range bunny and she has a kennel but recently she has taken a disliking to it and prefers to sit behind a tree in the flower bed.
We have clay soil here and it has rained for the past week or so and she never seemed to really dry out. I put fresh hay down for her but she kept digging it away and lying in the mud.
Recently she finally gave up and came up onto the back porch to sleep, at which point I decided to was off all the mud that she hadnt cleaned off herself.
I discovered that she has lost a strip of fur all the way around her back legs where the skin folds, I assume from excessive grooming and the fact that she hasnt dried out.
I carefully cleaned off all the mud and dried her thoroughly and then plastered the bald bits with Filtabac.
Is there anything else I can do apart from keep her dry and warm? (she's been confined to the back porch with a coat and a blanket)
I was horrified when I discovered this but it is not raw or open, so I am just keeping it clean and dry..
Any advice would be much appreciated!!
