I really am just now getting into facebook and its going pretty good. I like it - but I have a problem.

Some people are so active on it that I get like 20 bazillion things on my page that they've done/joined/said, etc. - and that's ok - but its almost like a page of their stuff and I don't get to see the other stuff easily.

Is there some way I can edit the settings so I only get notifications about certain friends or only get a few notifications about this person?

It isn't that I don't like them - its that I don't want to miss out on notifications about other friends and I am not facebook-saavy enough to know how to find out more information about some folks, etc.

I sure do hope I'm making sense.

Yes! I believe you can!

On the homepage, if you scroll right to the bottom, there is an option 'News feed preferences'

If you select that, you'll have a display of 'sliders' where you can select things you want to hear more about, and things you want to hear less about. I don't really want to know about people joining groups and stuff, so I have that set to 'less' but I want to know people's status updates, so I have that set to 'more'

You can also type friends names that you want to hear more about, and friends that you want to hear less about! :)

Hope that helps! :)

And to think, I failed IT at school! :p (I did have an awful teacher)

Steve is the real genius with computers. And the web stuff.... A lot of the web stuff goes right over my head lol!

I think it worked - or that person hasn't been online today...
I think what it does is prioritises other people's news over that person- so you don't see much from them if there is a lot of other news to display. But if you got a really quiet day on Facebook (is there such a thing?!) and that person was busy busy busy, you'd see stuff from them...

At least I think that's how it works anyway lol. Could just be a load of rubbish! :p

Also, I don't know if this is any use to you, but you can stop certain people seeing certain things about you! If you go to 'settings' at the top of the homepage, and then select 'Privacy settings', you can choose whether certain people see your status, info, etc etc- most things you like really. You can also control what goes in the News Feed about you- I don't have when I become friends with people in my News Feed for example.

I used it when I was working and my colleagues were reporting every time I even logged, or even changed my status to say I was dizzy, to my manager, and it all just got a bit silly. Mind you, it can backfire. One of my supposed best friends has blocked me from seeing all of her profile for no apparent reason, so she could invite all of our other friends to a party she was having. Guess we're not friends anymore lol!:?
