Our company has delayed opening until 11am, but I'm taking the day off anyways, evenif they don't decide to close.

Just got into work... 5 miles took me35 minutes... WISH I could have stayed home. We have about 6-8 inches so far, and it's still coming down pretty heavy. Supposed to turn to an ice storm later, OH JOY!

School is closed this week, winter recess. Somy girls are home asleep :)sleep:, lucky them!)

So I'm not supposed to tell everyone it was 85 here yesterday afternoon.....

Right?

Ok...

Peg

It started here last night while I was at the grocery. Everyone was driving so slow during rush hour!

Today we're expecting more - the kids were disappointed - they wanted a delay this morning but didn't get it.

Good Shot Jim. It is a good idea touse the flash all the time. It brightens up the picture (flag) and highlights the snowflakes.

Hang around Becknutt. There are things going on in here that don't happen in the main forum. :D

We started getting snow last night and last night they delayed school for this morning. This morning school ended up closed. Our main thing is not snow, it's freezing rain! On my drive to work this morning, there's not many places to pull over safely and scrap your windshield. So I had to wait till I got half way to work to pull over and scrap off my windshield. Boy was I glad to be able to see!

I was to have plans tonight but cancelled them due to the weather. :(

It's freezing rain outside right this moment. :?

Psst.. I agree, that photo is pretty!

Amanda

It's raining now.

I went out around 10am to clear the snow and ended up coming in after it was almost finished.....the belt broke on the snowthrower.

MrsD was out walking the dogs, and all of a sudden my kids are coming in the house with the dogs and no MrsD.

Me: "What happened? Where's Mommy?"

Them; "Mommy and the dogs got attacked by another dog!! The cops just left and Animal Control has the dog that attacked them."

MrsD is unhurt, but very traumatized. The dog knocked her down to the ground in the snow and then went after Lilah and Eden-puppy
Lilah has a nasty ear wound...torn lob....base of the ear next to her head...
....and is VERY VERY traumatized.
Puppy Eden is unscathed and was rescued by a neighbor.

It took three people to pull the dog off of them.
One guy was hitting it with a snow-shovel, and it still kept attacking!!!!

The cop that lives down the block came down and knocked on our door and said he would takeMrsD and Lilah to his vet in his SUV. The roads are treacherous, andhe thought it would be a good idea instead of taking my itsy-bitsy car. Plus, none of the vets in the area were in because of the snow. He had called his vet to make sure he was in and told them to be expecting us. Gosh, it's good to have good neighbors!!!
In fact, the one who first came to her rescue is a lady we haven't gotten along with for the last 10 years......that may have all been forgotten as of today though. She's the one that scooped Eden up before the dog got at her.

The owner of the loose dog called to apologize and see if everyone was okay. Nobody seems to know how she got loose.
His dog is up to date on her shots, but had been attacked 3 weeks ago by another dog. Probably why she went after Lilah.
We told him that we would be giving him the vet bill to pay.....it only came to $82.

Lilah got a shot of antibiotics and some orals to take. The vet told us not to clean the wound and let it scab over. He didn't clean it at the office either, which I think they should have.... but I'll trust them for now. It was a pretty clean tear, so we'll keep a close eye on it.

It's been quite a day!!
MrsD is upstairs right now trying to coax Lilah out of the bathroom. She's such a good dog....this should not have happened to her. My heart is hurting for her right now.:(

Well...the snowplows just scraped up the slush from the last block and a half and dumped it in front of my driveway! Why do they do that??!!??
I better go out and shovel it out before it freezes tonight. On the other hand....I really don't need to go out tomorrow.

Hmmmmm....beer?....shovel?....beer?....shovel?....

Thanks :biggrin2:

I don't get too many good ones.

I took the same shot w/o the flash and it was...err...blah.....and got promptly deleted.
I should have kept it to see the difference.

Ohhh, how horrible, Jim!! I hope everyone recovers physically and mentally. Might need to take Lilah to some doggy classes to recover. The owner can pay for those too!

From watching Cesar Milan (I :heartshim), I think the key is now to continue walking with confidence with the dogs. The dogs can totally sense any fear or tension that you have.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou

MrsD just got back from a walk with the dogs, and everything went fine.

We found another small bite wound on Lilah's leg and cleaned it out.
She's resting on her favorite chair with a blankie over her.

I love Cesar, too!
And I totally agree with the fact that they pick up on our feelings (just like the buns do).
I explained this to MrsD and she really understands.

The poor girl! What a shame! Hope that dog is confined now. Give Lilah a hug (not near her ear!) from me! :pet:

A lot of how she handles it will come from how you(and Mrs D) do... calm and confident... she wil be too. (Glad Mrs D wan't hurt! What a scare!)

Oh Jim, sorry to hear about Mrs D and the doggies.I sure hope all of them bounce back quickly. It must have been so scarey for all of them, really thank goodness for neighbours.

So what did you end up doing shovel?...or beer?

Susan:)

Let's just change this into the weekend thread.

Cathy: Thanks! The owner called again last night to see how we were doing. We found a few more bite wounds on Lilah, but nothing too serious.
They have their dog back and it's still not clear on how she got loose. She got the worst of the fight, too. I guess Lilah tore her up pretty good.
Lilah and MrsD are doing okay. Lilah even played in the snow with the dogs down the block. And then she played "fetch the snowball" with me.

Susan: Thanks! I think everyone will be okay given a bit of time and TLC.
Oh...and it went a bit like this: shovel...shovel....beer break....shovel...beer beer break...shove...ah, the heck with it...beerbeerbeerbeer

Then around dinner time, the upstairs toilet overflowed and flooded the downstairs bathroom. Lovely!

And then when I got up this morning to get waffles from the freezer in the garage....I found that the power was off and all the food had thawed.
I must have blown the circuit breaker yesterday when the electric snowthrower crapped-out.

While I was downstarirs flipping circut breakers, I noticed that Chippy has done a major trashing on her cage and pen. My guess is she's having another false pregancy and is trying to nest.

Whoa! It's never boring around your place Jim! I hate it when something happens to the freezer! I put up all kinds of stuff from the garden all summer andfall. Can't afford to lose it. Did it all defrost? (So what are you having for dinner tonight? LOL!)

How is Lilah's ear? Looks so raw in the photo. How is she doing today?

I'm at work and snuck on here for a peek... have so much to do, shouldn't be here... but if you promise not to tell my boss... I'm gonna go read a few threads to catch up. Then I'll go back to work.... sigh.... (Kind of like your beer... or shovel.... WORK or Rabbits... work orrabbits.... RABBITS!)

Luckily (or not) it was the extra freezer that my dear FIL gave us.
We just keep the extra stuff in there....and our neighbor uses it for some of her stuff.

Some frozen pizza, waffles, bread, and hotdog/hamburger rolls of ours thawed....the big pack of chicken was still frozen.
The neighbor's perogies and ice cream barsare soup.

Lilah's ear is still pretty angry looking. MrsD cleaned it a little, but didn't want to chance dislodging any scabbing.
The bite on Lilah's leg is worse than we thought, too. It's a little swollen and she's limping. :(
I may call my vet for some advice on pain meds.

Time for some lunch, leftover Chinese takeout, and then I'm going to start on cleaning Chippy's mess.:vacuum:
