My flemish giant, Winston, seems to shed all the time. He had a big moult in early April and it looks like he might be having another one now (early May).

We live in Santa Monica where the highs are generally about 65 with the occasional 80 degree day. Could those warmer days trigger a moult in a bunny that is used to 60-65 all the time?

The vacuum has a hard time keeping up...

Winston moved here with me from Boston and I don't remember him shedding this much back east.

Anyone else in SoCal notice similar shedding?

Good thing he's so darn cute...

Beautiful Bunny! Dang - how many pounds is he/she?!

Live in West Hollywood and mine are molting as well (my boy seems to do it more than the his girfriendl, but than my cat started last week and she NEVER sheds, short haired)- thought it was the recent heat? Think its weather related - so your not alone. Or he/she is just getting aclimated to the climate..

Think it might be a hot summer, soyou might buy one of the better vaccuums (or a Roombah, a few coworkers have bought this device and it seemsto savetheir sanity with molting/shedding pets if you have hard wood floors).

Good luck!

He's beautiful! I want to pick him up and cuddle him.

In my experience, indoor bunnies often shed without regard to the weather. Often mine shed around this time in the spring, but they also shed at completely random times in the middle of seasons. My girl only has a big shed about once a year (don't know how, but it's great) while my other guy sheds the standard four times per year.

He's about 16 pounds. Gotta love Flemmies!

Well I guess it's good to know that this is somewhat normal... but what a pain! I have the LG Pet Care vacuum (it compresses all of the fur into a near-solid mass and amazes me every time).

But even with this nice vacuum I'm stuck cleaning 2-3 times a week during a big sheds. If only I could teach Winston to vacuum up his own fur...
