Wasn't sure the best place to put this.
http://www.sheltersource.org/banks.htm This is a resource list of places across the country that provide free pet food forelderly, disabled and/or low income people. Some of the organizations support emergencies and disasters. There may be some good resources here for rescues. There is also a section with grant writing help and grant information.
Another good resource for the Kalamazoo area - temporary pet sheltering for victims of domestic violence. What a wonderful program to offer. http://www.kazoohumane.org/programs_services.aspx
Another good shelter resource, a pdf download file (300 pages) on resources for shelters keeping pets for domestic violence victims.
