(I believe I've posted a thread similar to this before, but I can't seem to find it.)

So, I'm coming the end of my home schooling and my mom is really pressuring me to pursue higher education. I thought about dental hygiene for a bit because the money you make = :hyper:

I started to get a bit turned off of the idea though the more I thought about it. I originally wanted to have a very high paying job so that I could help out shelters and maybe open a rescue in my house. I'm starting to think now though that I really need to have a job I enjoy otherwise I'll just end up dropping out half way through school. :grumpy

I don't plan on having kids anytime soon and I'm not a huge fan of material possessions. I like to keep things simple. With that in mind, maybe if I manage my cash right, I could have a job I love and still help out animals with money. I was thinking about becoming a veterinary technician and after getting the feel for it... who knows? Maybe become a full fledged vet (with discounts for everyone on RO! ;)) I've heard a lot of bad things about working in the animal field and a lot of good. I suppose it's different for everyone. When it comes to animals though, I retain information about them like a sponge. I never get tired of reading and learning about them. They are so fascinating. I've done research on all types of different jobs, but I keep coming back to animal based ones.

Long story short, do you guys think money or loving what you do is more important?

I love what I do as a vet tech. But being in a small town with four or five vets its hard to get a job.

I have thought about a couple of idea for doing something from home. I love working with animals. I would go for what you love although my husband like s being a Correction Officer and he is furthering his education to move up he is stuck. We are not in the position for a job change so he is furthering his training at work.

So its up to you stay single and do what you want thats what I say once you have a family even a husband only you have two people to think about with your job and everything else.

I could easily move to Houston and have a job in two days. But my husband works here and we only have one car. So he makes more money then I would. well it pretty close but he get health insurance.

It up to you but at 21 and married and tied to where I live I would go for your dream then worry about love. I wish I could have met my husband three or four years later.

Oh and I had done more in school.
