I built a huge NIC cage for Zeke, my minilop, and cut a sheet of vinyl for the bottom. Thecage is great, except for one small issue. It lacks thefabulous high-cornered pan that comes with most small animalcages! Zeke loves to turns things over and dig, so hay, etc.,get pushed out of his cage and I constantly have to move the cage awayfrom the wall to clean around it and vacuum. The vinyl bottomis longer and wider than the cage, so nothing gets on the carpet, butI'm still having to clean all around the vinyl constantly. Ithought about buying a dog crate as a cage for him, but none of themseem to have the high-cornered pan bottoms. What do you guysdo for the bottoms of your NIC cages? Anysuggestions? Please! :)

You can also use pee blockers along the sides to keep thestuff in.

I was just going to siggest this. Urine quards. Or 2" x 4"s zip-tiedaround the outer edge of the bottom of the cage grids. Just drill holesand zip tie them to the grids. U can even zip-tie the urine guards.

Thanks, guys!

Anyone have recommendations for good urine guard brands (preferably plastic), and where to buy? I'm looking into the custom pan option, too. I really appreciate it.

If you can get Coroplast in your area, it is great. It's inexpensive and you can cut it yourself with a utility knife.

I put mine inside the cage. I scored the underneath, flipped up the sides to make a box-shape, and duct-taped the corners.
