Because, we know how much you cared for yourbaby, Oreo. Because, you are a fellow New Jerseyan.Because, we know the pain that comes from losing a bun can be assuagedbyhaving to care for another bun, not to replace, but take aplace in your heart. Because, our "buncumstances" haverecently changed and our darling babies do not get the individualattention they deserve, the Missus and I have decided to makeyouan offerwe hope you will consider, if not rightnow, perhaps sometime in the near future.

We would like to offer you the care of one of our bonded bunny couples,Mickie and Maizie. Maizie is a cutesy, little football of abroken(black/white) Netherland doe, about four years old, while Mickieis a funny looking tort Dutch buck, about two years old. Bothhave been neutered and have primarily been outside rabbits, but havebecomeinside bunnies during inclement weather, like all lastwinter, for instance. As a result, they were/are litter boxtrained while in an inside cage. I would imagine they areperfectly capable of funtioning quite well as house bunnies if calledupon to do so.They are a healthy, cuteloving couple.

Mickie and Maizie could become part of your household, along with afree outside hutch, should you so desire and/or a free cage largeenough for two buns if Oreo's accommodations are inadequate for thatpurpose. We also have the wherewithal to transport any andall of the above.

We are not making this offer out of some misplaced sense of pity orover-concern for your present state of affairs. It is justthat we have been realizing of late, that with six rabbitstotal, none seem to get the attention they fully deserve fromus. In an effort to provide a better life for them all, wewould like to diminish our herd, but we were at a loss as to where wecould possiblyplace any of them.

We both agreed it could not be accomplished by placing an advertisementin the paper because we would not know enough about the potentialparents. Our bunny friends are all "bunnied up," so we wereresigned tojust doing the best we can with our bunch, even ifwe believed it not to be enough. If you were to consider ouroffer, it would enable us to sleep so much easier in the assurance thatour babies had the best of all possible Moms and the best of possiblefamilies, right here in NJ!

No need to make an immediate decision. Think about it for abit. You could come visit us for an "introduction," if youlike. You all could come for an introduction, for thatmatter! We do gather that bunny fancying is a family affairfor you.

Please consider our offer. It is being made sincerely and seriously.

Thank you for the offer Buck. I'll have to getback to you on it as i don't want to make a rush decision and am notback to my senses at all. I'll have to talk it over with my parents toosince im still living at home.
Unfortunately, we felt it best to just get rid of Oreo's cage since shewas sick to avoid the spread of any bacteria that might still bepresent even after a good cleaning.
I will let you know & thank you so much for the offers, both forthe pair of bunnies & the invite to come down and see the bunnies.
Everyone here has been so supportive and helpful in this awful time, it really does mean a lot to me. Thank you

Understand completely. We arein no rush to place them for the reasons mentioned above. Wehave no doubt, based on your posts here on the Forum that you were andremain a great bunny mommy.

Sit back and heal a little. Remember, we'll all be together again, someday. It is only good-bye for a while.

WowBuck... this situation reminds me SOmuch of what we just did to place a dog of ours with a newhome. We also had gotten to the point where we could not giveall our animals the attention they deserve. She was older sofinding a really good home from an ad just wouldn't have been likelyand it was a chance we weren't going to take. So we just kepther as long as we could. Then a friend of mine's dog passedto old age and cancer and after allowing her a griefing period of acouple months or so I asked if she was looking for a new dog atall. She said her husband had been looking but just hadn'tfound the right one yet so I gave her a picture of mine and told her tothink about it. The husband was ecstatic and thought Nikkiwould be great for them. So far he has been right. It took Nikki about a week to really get used to them... butnow she's always with them... even goes to work with her new dad andgoes fly-fishing with him on the weekends. He built a basketto put on his bicycle so that she could go longer distances with himwithout wearing out. I really can't go on enough about howwonderful this situation worked out for everyone involved. Myhusband and I are now down to a slightly more manageable 3 dogs (stillthinking of finding a home for one of the dalmatians, if any areinterested PM me please), Nikki has a GREAT new family that I couldn'thave hand picked better if I tried, and her new mom and dad (and bigsister) have a dog that they go on and on about how great sheis. It has really made me happy to know how much better offeveryone has been since Nikki found her home. If Pamela227decides to take you up on this offer I hope it works out as well as itdid for all of us!

Yeah, it makes a difference when they go withsomeone you "know" and trust. It is like a win/win situationfor the pets and the new parent(s). We were so touched byOreo's story and Pamela's heartbreak. When you read such anaccount, it brings back all the memories of the sadness and pain whenone's own pet passed away.
