Theresa Mueller sent this email out on the various lionhead breeder lists yesterday...I'm assuming it is ok to share here also.

I'm not sure how this will affect what (if any) lionheads HAVE to be allowed to be shown at shows. I knew that they had to accept siamese sable before because that color had passed first presentation by Gail Gibbons.

I'm not sure if anyone here is breeding lionheads with the intent to show them - but if so - the four colors you might want to focus on (since they are the ones presented first for passing) - are listed in the letter.

Hi, all,

Just wanted to send out a quick note that I got a letter today from the ARBA Standards Committee letting me know that Lionhead presentation rights have been passed to me. I am now eligible to present my 4 varieties (Black, Blue, REW, & Tort-Black) in 2010 in MN. I am so honored to be given the opportunity to present and hope to be able to gain recognized status for the breed. This has not been an easy journey for those who have gone before me and I have the utmost respect for all they gave to this breed in their attempts. I hope everyone will show them the thanks and respect they deserve for the hard work they gave to this breed. The challenge of presenting a new breed is a daunting one, but it's a challenge I'm looking forward to devoting myself to over the next several years.

I have been in touch with Cheryl Eng-Link today and will be working closely with the Standards Committee to update my standard over the next several weeks. I will get that out to everyone once it is finalized. I please ask that you have patience while I work through the details with the committee.

I look forward to the endeavor ahead and thank you all for all the support you have offered to me.

Looking forward to an exciting year and hope many of you will be able to join us in Minnesota in November!

I was bummed the lionheads didn't do well at convention this year. I breed them and show them so I wonder what this means at shows now?? I breed AFL and french lops so lionheads are my side project because I just love their temperament and look.

I am excited for convention next year cuz it is in my backyard .....I am 20 minutes from downtown mpls!

Unfortunately, back to square one - with no variety having a working standard. It will be up to the individual show committees whether or not to allow exhibition.

I'm bummed to see the colors selected. I'm glad to see blue as several people are doing some neat blue projects, but I'm no fan of REWs and I absolutely love the Sable Point LHs. Personally my favorites are the sable points, frosted pearl, and blue LHs. I think too many of the torts have long faces that I see on the tables. I'm not a fan of long faces. Of course, my ugliest tort doe has a long face and produces gorgeous kits...go figure. :)

I am happy with the color change it mixes it up a little. I have a blue doe that I am going to breed soon so I'm excited to see what she produces. Her ears are on the long side but the buck has very nice ears. I have a new litter that are 5 days old and I think I have a blue and a rew which I'm excited for. I don't like very many rew rabbits but when they are fuzzy I like them better. In a few days I'll post some pics and see what people think the colors are on the new kits.
