I had a very bad vertigo attack -- first one in a couple of years and it was a doozy. The last one like this went on for hours and hours before a neighbour called 911 and had me carted off to the hospital. I wasn't prepared for that again, but knowing from past experience that I have the kind of vertigo that doesn't always go away after a few minutes, this time I asked my roomie to call for paramedics, and they came and carted me off to the hospital. But it was especially horrible because they wouldn't let me drink water or have anything in my stomach to throw up to it was hours of dry heaves. Got a gravol shot and an IV, neither did much good. They kept me there until this afternoon. I had to wobble home in my slippers and pjs in the rain.

Not a good day. Still feeling pretty crappy.

Thought I'd share.

sas :yuck

Oh Sas, that is aweful, but thank goodness you're okay! I want to take your whoozy away. Man. I wish I lived nearer you, I would toteyou around!:D

Crys-Hugs!!!!

Oh dear!! I hate that feeling! I can imagine wanting to die with it!

You poor thing! Did you WALK home????

I'm glad you went to the hospital.

Ditto! Wish we were closer! Could of at least taken care of you! I hope you are feeling better today... that is a horrible feeling... hour after hour and you can't control it... Sincerely hope you are better today! :sunshine:

Ugh, well I had another attack, relatively minor, but distressing. I was standing in front of my kitchen sink. I had one before in that same spot, I think my floor is crooked in just the right... or wrong ... way.

At least this one went away, but knocked the stuffing out of me all day.

I mention this often I'm sure, but I have an overwhelming fear of nausea -- give me flat out pain any day -- to the extent that in spite of being in the entertainment industry and a fixture on the bar and party scene, I never drank more than one or two drinks a night, if that.

I had one hangover in my life -- I couldn't move or even roll over without the room spinning -- and swore never ever again.

It also kept me off drugs, hanging out windows upside down and other 'spinny' things.

A blessing and a curse.

Right now it sure is a curse!

PS: Now I'm afraid of my kitchen sink!

s :p

Goodness! Couldn't even imagine how scary that would be, hope that was the last of the vertigo attacks for awhile.

Guess you are now medically excused from ever doing the dishes in the future.. ;)!

Hope you're ok and that this was the last of the attacks for a loong while!

I really feel for you, far more than I did before, because I too an am emetophobe and know how panicked I would feel in the situation you've been in.

Does any medication help like anti emetics? Or anti dizzy pills?

:( Poor you.

I'm so sorry, but I have to admit, I just burst out laughing at the fact you are afraid of the sink......

That might be a new excuse for me to avoid the dishes! LOL!

seriously, though, I hope this stops! I can't imagine going through that!

Geez
Sas :(

I just saw this :shock:I saw the title quickly several days ago and thought it was Bo's thread..
I really hope that you are better.
My husband had the same thing happem several years ago on Christmas eve. He was standing in front of me on the phone and all at once just fell on the floor. I thought it was a heart attach but instead it was vertigo (probably from a virus). I called an ambulance He was in the hospital on Christmas Day and it took him weeks to become normal. Certain things would trigger it off.

I'm sorry I posted to this thread so afterthe fact\hope that you are feeling better soon...

Omg sas I only just saw this, I'm sorry!

That must have been terrifying for you- I've had some pretty bad vertigo attacks but luckily I've never had to be hospitalised for it. It's so horrible though to feel so awful like that and nothing you can do to relieve it....

And you're not alone with the kitchen sink thing, either- I think with me the repetitive action of turning for a dish, washing, watching the sloshing water and turning to the drainer and back again really does me in and I've had 'drop attacks' where I feel pulled to the ground several times doing that. Sadly doesn't get me out of doing the dishes though!

I hope that you feel better soon and that it doesn't happen again for a very long time, if ever....
:hug2:
