Hey ya'll..

I have been feeding my boys Oxbow pellets, but I really would like to change that..

The price is not the problem--it is just that the stores near me do not sell any bags larger than around 15 pounds, and quite frankly-I would rather buy in bulk BUT if I order it online it will cost a fortune to ship it..

SO-I am looking for pellets that are pretty much the same as Oxbow-or better-BUT cheaper and range from 5lbs to around 50lbs.

I do not want to buy a 50 pound bag right off the bat and then have the bunnies not even eat them..
I know that when it comes to switching the food I have to change it slowly-addinga little more of the new pellets each time and less of the Oxbow..

So if anyone has any suggestions of what kind of food to give them-that'd be great.

I know that Oxbow has a choice for young and active rabbits or older adult rabbits, but I am not sure about other brands--but both my rabbits are only around almost 5 months old.

Rip off the label of your Oxbow, take it to a feed store, and ask if you can compare your label to the rabbit feeds they have.

I use Purina, the show formula. I think they have about five different types of pellets though, a couple of which come in 25 lb and 7 lb. You can look up the nutrition on the internet- www.rabbitchow.com

Be careful about buying too much at once, check when the expiry date is. Although the food might not go off (mouldy) the vitamin content will drop after that date. You'll also ned to store it in an airtight container. A 50lb bag is going to last two average rabbits nearly a year!! If it's the bun in your avatar that looks more nethie size.. over a year

I know not to buy TOO much...Atleast 25 pounds-but I also have to feed 3 rabbits. A dwarf hotot/nethie/polish mix, a holland lop, and a large mixed breed bunny. i am just looking for any food that comes in larger amounts without breaking the bank..

and the bunny in my avatar--that picture is from when he was only 8 weeks old..he has grown a bit and is bigger than a nethie.
and I do store the food in an airtight container..
Thanks for the tip though :)
