Hey, I just want to know if you heard/know about this rabbit food and hay :

Website : Burgess Excel - Rabbit

I have been feeding my rabbits the 'Burgess Excel - Adult Rabbit' since I go my 1st bunny in March 2009. I also bought hay but now I am starting to buy the 'Burgess Excel Herbage' which my buns love (both food and hay are on the website shown above-).

I have a mixed breed rabbit which is about 9 months now. She lives with my dwarf
rabbit. Should I be giving both the 'Adult Rabbit Food' ? Should I feed the 'Adult Rabbit' food to my mixed and give the dwarf 'Burgess Excel - Junior and Dwarf Rabbit' Should I feed the buns different food or does it not matter
(NOTE: Dwarf has been eating Adult food since I got her 2 months ago)

Do you think this food and hay are good for my buns? As far as I know, the Adult and Dwarf food is the only rabbit food they sell at the local petshop. The other near-by petshop sells that mixed food suitable for hamsters (the one with all the different coloured food).

Thanks

I have almost completely changed George over to the adult excel as the jun dwarf has a little higher fat content and he`s starting to look a litle tubby.

If your pet shop supplies one type of burgess food i`m sure they could order for you, if you make that your favourite pet shop:D

Those foods are fine. The pellet food is what I feed all of mine (I have 18) and have no problems.

It needs to be fed very minimally though. Excel pellets have been known to cause excess cecals in some rabbits, so if you start to see them, then cut down the food, or start to change the food (to another complete pellet, like maybe Science Selective).

You can feed the Adult food to both rabbits, that's fine for them. If you decide to change you need to make the change slowly, so swap a small part of the old food, for the new food, each day. It should take no quicker than two weeks, but I generally make the change over 4 weeks.

The herbage is also ok, but providing a wide variety of different hays is important because it can help wear down the different parts of their teeth. Mine don't like herbage, but it is a hay I have used and tried with some buns.

It might be that there is a farm shop near you that sells hay by the bale, and that may work out cheaper and also yummier for the buns.

Yes, that is my fav. petshop but it is quite expensive (costing 7.50euro for a dog toy, 20euro for a 6kg bag of dog food) -haha.

I rarely ever see cecals in my buns litter or bedding. I will buy a different brand of hay when my herbage runs out.

We have no farm nearby, because the Excel brand is imported from England to Ireland but the food comes at 8.50euro and herbage hay at 9.00euro. :)
