Hello Guys,

I went for my daily visit to see my rabbit andone of the adoption agent said that I can take Oreo home while Milo is still getting checked out. That I don't have to wait for Milo to be finished in quarentine to take Oreo. So we will be picking up Oreo tomorrow and then when they are finished watching Milo we can come back for her. They are bonded. They are sister and brother. Both are fixed don't worry. I am getting them from the Humane's Society.

So my question is about food in Canada. I read that you should get food with 14 percent protein or less and for fiber it should be 20 percent or more. I read that from the House Rabbit Society I think. My rabbits are six years old. So I guess I am looking for a maintenance formula. So what is the best brand of pellets? I went to the pet store today. I noticed that some pellet formulas are alfalfa based and some are Timothy Hay based. What brand should I look for? And when they say things like protein min. 14 percent. Does that mean the minimum it is, is 14 percent protein but it could be higher then 14 percent?

The oxbow that I am referring to is Oxbow Bunny Basics. I don't mind the cost but I noticed that the first ingredient was Alfalfa meal or something like that? So that concerned me.

If you can get Oxbow, go for it. Get the Bunny Basics T as it is made with timothy. It can be expensive. THe website does have a store locator.

I would also reccommend Martin Rabbit pellets. They make a timothy pellet that is marketed for Less Acitve rabbits. It does have alfalfa in it, but its about the 5th or 6th ingrediant down the list. It is cheaper than the Oxbow and easier to get.
