Hi everyone,

It seems Fluffy isn't going poo for the last couple of days. His appetite is good for greens and I think hay. He always has a ton of hay in his litterbox which he does lay in and seems to be eating. He is not eating pellets for the past few days which he use to eat up as soon as I gave them to him.

His tummy does not seem hard at all. I gave him some fresh pineapple juice. I do let him out to run around twice a day. and he is very active.

He was shaved yesterday as he gets matted very easy.

Is their anything else I can try to get him to go?

Thanks for your help.

Lessee...

Did you notice if his poos got smaller and then stopped or did they just stop coming?

Any sign of any wetness around the muzzle?

Does he appear to be interested in pellets but loses interest once he's at the bowl?

Any chance he was chewing on carpet or something else that might cause a blockage?

Is he molting?

Is he straining to pee?

I think canned pumpkin is your best bet along with all the fluids you can get him to drink. I put a wee bit of juice in a crock of water for the molting bunnies.

ETA: Did the poos stop before the shave? And was there a lot of loose hair on him after the shave?

Hi Sas,

Yes his poos got smaller before they stopped. No wetness noticed around the muzzle. I really haven't seen him year the pellet bowl. I just gave him fresh pellets not that the ones he had were old maybe 2 days. The pellets are good as all the rest of the piggies devour them.

He does have the toilet paper rolls that he likes to play with and chew. I just took that out of his cage.

Is he molting, I don't think he was but he had so much fur, he was a real fuzz ball before the shave. He looks really cute now I will post a picture after. Their doesn't seem to be any loose fur.

I just gave him pumpkin and greens, should I cut out the greens for now?

Thanks

Susan

This is Fluffy before shave.

And Fluffy after shave.

He's a very cute and sweet bunny. He has not been fixed, he does not spray anywhere or have accidents. He is a very neat bunny. I still can't believe someone would let him loose during the hot summer. People make me so mad sometimes.

Nope, keep feeding him greens unless he seems gassy and uncomfortable.

I wasn't as concerned re: bad pellets, mostly asking because with dental issues their eating habits can change. They may not be comfortable chewing pellets for some reason.

Pipp never eats hay but she stops eating veggies and will only eat pellets, but some bunnies stop eating pellets.

Were the poops getting smaller before the shave? Or could it be stress from the shave?

Yes the poops were smaller before the shave. It's been maybe 3 days that he hasn't been going as much and then he's done none over night.

Does he like tummy massages? That might help.

If it is just a slowdown because of hair or whatever, the fluids and fiber should help soon. But there may be more to it.

Hopefully he'll unleash a huge pile very soon.

Fluffy? We're going for this, buddy: :litterhealthy:

He is adorable! I think you've gotten some good advice from Pipp so far. The only thing I would add is that he may like some pedialyte with a bit of grenadine in it. I get the unflavored pedialyte and just put a few drops in, and my bunnies go nuts for it. It can really help get their guts going again if they have a bit of a slowdown.

Thanks Claire, would Pedialyte be the same thing as Pediatric Electrolyte. I have apple and grape flavour. How much of this should I give and should I water it down?

Thanks

Susan

PS

We had about 10 fair size poos still not nearly as many as he use to do but that's better than nothing.

I will be giving him more tummy rubbiesafter dinner. he did eat some pumpkin too.

Good to hear there's some poos. I agree with Dawn. 10mL would be a pretty good place to start, as far as how much of the drink to give him.

An update on Fluffy, we have good size and quantity of poos over the past day. He is eating his pellets now. Getting exercise.

I insist Chris come and deal with Fluffy at least once a day, as he is the one who found him wandering in the summer. Chris does very little for the rest of the bunnies, never feeds or cleans them, plays with them once in awhile.

Hopefully Fluffy is recovering from a tummy upset and he will be back to normal asap.

Susan
