My dad called today because he'd been hearing about the Rio Grande flooding and how badly we're getting hit here with the water. I really hadn't thought about it much - but we drove out of town to Governor's Landing - where folks launch their boats out onto Lake Amistad.

People were swimming at the boat launch (I think we're going back tomorrow to go swimming too).

Here is what we saw (the road down to the parking area is closed).

You can see the ramp to get into boats....right?

Here are some more photos that sort of show the flooding....

Here are some pictures from my end of the Rio Bravo.

There's a park under there.

The ferry that crosses the river. It broke it's rope and pulley and was nearly lost down the river.

The international bridge has been closed for almost a week now.

The spillway at Falcon Dam. 296,976.6 gallons per second pouring out the lake when this photo was taken (39,700 cfs). The flow has now been reduced to 112,207 gallons per second (15,000 cfs).

A nearly full Falcon Lake. Since this photo was taken yesterday (Sunday, July 11th) the lake has gone up another 4 feet and is now a foot above flood stage despite the flood gates being open.

Yesterday we went swimming out at Governor's Landing where they launch the boats into the water.

I was sitting in the parking lot (between a set of lines showing you the space)....and the water was up to my chest.

Art sitting out on a picnic table by the normal waterline...sitting on it - with water up to his chest.

It was funny to watch the minnows swimming by me as I sat in the parking lot...

Yeah - we have LOTS of water.

Stay safe! I reckon it must be a lil funny though to just sit where you'd sit normally and find yourself in water...
