I wasn't sure where to put this...
As you all know we got a flemish giant a little over a week ago. Iwas told he was 9 1/2 weeks old. He is fine in every way. he does all of the good bunny behaviors I have read about. He plays, sleeps, eats his pellets and hay, drinks plenty of water, uses the litter box except for when he sits at the food bowl for a while then he will poop outside the box, he is growing, curious, playful, grooms himself but not obsessively and does not get too startled although he is still not sure of the vacuum.
The problem I am having is with his ears. I have read about the different ear problems and it doesn't seem to be medical as his ears look fine, he doesn't scratch, his head doesn't tilt, etc.
A few days after getting him his left ear started to stick out to the side and since then it has drooped firther and now his right ear sticks out to the side or droops. Now and then he lifts it up but more often it is out to the side or down. Also flemish have the ears that are folded at an angle if you know what I mean. The ends of his ears are flattened out like you see in lops.
So now I'm wondering about his breeding. I didn't get to converse with the breeder as much as I would have liked to. She showed us adult rabbits that were his mother and father and they were flemish.
What do you experienced people think? Could it be ear problems and him just not showing any signs?
He also does not hunch up in pain. Most of the time when he is laying down he's all sprawled out and there has been no teeth grinding.
