I don't know if anyone remembers my Flemish Baby Blondie. I had posted some pictures of her on TinysMom blog. She is a 3 month old female flemish giant that has a condition where her eyelids curve inward and her eye lashes rub up against her eye constantly.

The vet said we should wait till she is full grown to do surgery but her eye was looking really bad so I asked the vet if there is anything else i could do. we decided to tack her eyelids up which means they sawed them up so they look normal and in 2 weeks we will take them out and see if they stay in place. If they don't then she will have to have surgery.

Here are some pictures of her. She is getting sooo big, she now weighs 5 1/2 pounds. She is such a sweetheart.

She's beautiful! Her fur color looks like the color of one of my kitties. :D

I hope everything turns out well for her!

Last year one of our kit Flemish Giant sandies also had to have one of her eyelids sewn up that way. It worked great, and she didn't end up needing any surgery afterward. Hope the little bun's eyes (and lids!) heal up quickly.

Blondie is so pretty!

Those stitches look kind of ouchie, but I bet it's better than having your eyelids irritated all the time by the lashes.

Thanks everyone, she has about 1 week left and then we are taking the stitches out. Hopefully her eyelids will stay in place

[align=center]How have her eyes done? =O

I have not seen Blondie in a long time. After we took out her stitches her eyes where completely normal and she found a wonderful new home. Her new family sent me pictures of her and she is huge, but still doing fine.

I have another bunny now in the rescue that is a baby lop and his eyelid also curves in on one side and only on the bottom so he had to have this done also. hopefully it will work for him too.
